VonageV-Phone with 250MB USB Flash Drive

I plan on doing some traveling where I will not be able to use my Vonage device so I ordered this item.I found out that on my laptop with a USB 3.0 device inserted, the V-Phone works so much better than on USB 2 connectected directly to the computer. It was SLOW if connected to a USB hub and probably won't work for making phone calls. Since the software to run the device is on the V-Phone, it will take time to boot up and start working. It also took over the sound on my laptop so it came through the V-Phone only. I may have been able to stop that but if I am actually using the device, I doubt I could have used the phone function that way.I got it working with Windows 7 in COMPATABILITY MODE using XP SP2 or 3. Called Vonage and got it registered and working for both outgoing and incoming calls. To add a new device to your Vonage account, you do need to call them the first time so they can add it. Afterwards you can switch to any registered device already present on your account yourself.Yes, you do need to either have a new phone number or be prepared to login to your Vonage account and change which device you use. It is a bit of a nuisance unless you are going to be gone for a while. Then it can be worthwhile.What I don't know is if this device will work with wireless connections since it is slower than using wired. I will find out later on.

It works quite well - good sound quality and easy to use. However, you MUST use a headset that plugs into the jack on this device (there is a basic one included but you can use any standard one) even if your computer has a built-in microphone and speakers.The 250 MB flash drive part isn't really useful because it's so small.

This little gadget works like it's supposed to. Don't expect the biggest and the best, this isn't it. But it works and will get you through if not a little better than that.

I used to have the typical Vonage modem hard wired to a Linksys router for my VOIP service. I now maintain two homes so I went with a Sprint MiFi 2200 "hot spot" for my internet connections for two laptops and a desktop. After speaking with numerous Vonage techs about a wireless solution, one finally told me that the only solution would be to purchase the Vonage V-Phone. I could not figure out how to do that (couldn't find it) on the Vonage website so I purchased one from Amazon.com. When it arrived, I found out that it is not compatible with Windows 7 (my new laptop), so I tried to install it on my desktop (XP). It didn't work so I called Vonage Support and after talking with 4 different techs over the course of three days, nobody could get it to work on my desktop. In fact the last tech that I worked with told me that the V-Phone that I purchased from Amazon.com was defective and I needed to purchase a new one directly form Vonage. So I said go ahead and do that and lo and behold, the tech found out that Vonage has discontinued selling their V-Phone product...because it is defective and doesn't work for everyone (it does actually work for some people). So after speaking with techs from Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and local carriers and verifying that there is NO wireless solution currently available for VOIP, I was left with no choice but to cancel my Vonage VOIP service, after three years of pretty decent service. I just wish Vonage should have told me there that was NO solution available that works most of the time. They wasted a few weeks of my time. Very frustrating. And then I had to go through their admin support to adjust my bill, but that's another story that I won' go into full detail. In summary, I pay annually (over $300) and initially they weren't going to give me a credit for 10 months...but after complaining to three levels of management over two weeks (and having to follow up with them constantly), they decided to issue the credit.

This is a really cool device for someone who has Vonage phone service, and does a lot of traveling. It saves you long-distance charges at hotels, and anywhere you have high-speed internet, you can make phone calls. True, you might say, " I have a cell phone", but if you go over your minutes with a cell, then better watch those overage charges. If you already have Vonage, then you know how nice it is to talk, and talk, without worrying about using up your minutes. I would reccommend this little gadjet.

it was difficult to find this item in retail stores ... i check your site and found a brand new one for half the retail price and received within a few days ... great buy!

This item should not be offered for sale in 2017. Vonage does not support this technology anymore. We used this flash drive 10 years ago with good results. But we purchased one recently, and it doesn't work with Windows 10 or Windows 7. Do not waste your money and time on this device!

This nifty little product is a good example of technology at its best. The reception is extremely good. Works well with a desktop, but would work extremely well with a laptop if you desire mobility.
