I bought this so I could do simple repairs such as sewing buttons on and things like that. I already know how to sew, thanks to my mom. I resorted to buying from Amazon because I could not find a basic sewing kit near me, and I don't have a car.This kit has everything you need for sewing. Keep in mind it's not something you want if you want to make clothes. But it's great regardless of your situation. I live alone, and I don't want to take clothes to a tailor or place that repairs clothes for basic things.This is the kind of thing that can last a lifetime. And it's also one of those things that maybe you won't use all that often. However, that time will come along when you'll need it, and you'll be annoyed if you don't have it.

I have a dear, twenty year old, college friend. For his junior year, he's moving into his very first apartment in June, and after much thought I've bought this all-inclusive sewing kit for him as a "house-warming" gift. I could have bought kitchen canisters,a big bulletin board for his bedroom, or many other items, but I decided on this "everything a young guy will ever need" sewing kit. And I know that when he finishes college and heads off for a law degree or an MBA, this little gem will go with him and stand him in good stead - for years to come. It's a great compilation of everything one needs to fix, mend, darn, sew, measure, etc. I know he'll like it and use it.

I bought this as a Christmas present gift for my godmother who is always fixing things at random places while she's out (especially at high school volleyball games her daughter coaches) and complaining about her other sewing kits being cheap and pieces breaking. As soon as she opened it, her face lit up. She said it's perfect. She loves the quality of the actual case that it's in. Which I agree with its thicker and sturdier than I thought it would be. The amount of yarn is also a plus. Most other travel kits I looked at had only 2-6 colors. Everything inside is neat and appears to be good quality for a compact, travel size sewing kit. Will buy next time she needs one.

I bought 3 of these.One foe each of my daughters. They were happy to get them and are ready to learn the basics of sewing. It was not offered at their school. I think everyone should know how to at least mend, darn, hem, and sew on a button. They are excited to start learning and can see where this will be helpful. Next Christmas sewing machines all around!

As one who has difficulty threading a needle I found this to be a nice set. I've wanted to sew in the past but never felt confident enough to sew more than a button on. These needles are easy to thread and I'm sure would be a great set for the beginner or expert. I've already started on a few projects using it. The scissors aren't very good though. I purchased different ones.

I received the kit on time but except to confirm that it was a sewing kit, I didn't attempt to use it until yesterday.The kit is exactly as shown, but the threads are mechanically wound around cardboard spools and the threads cannot be unwound without cutting the thread, and what good would that do?!!The thread is also the most 'skinny' (for want of a better word) and I have ever seen.MY ADVICE, DON'T BUY THIS ITEM.

I needed a quick, easy to use sewing kit for the quick fix... this is cheap.. and so are the tools... but it works in a pinch which is why I bought it.It's small.. zips closed and slips into my "sewing" drawer. I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seems useful.

Nice little kit, but the quality of the thread is just awful.
