Bought this on a whim for my husband - he loved it but ended up returning it in favor of a PVC model (he was worried about damaging this one in transit as he travels a lot). Overall I would recommend.

Nicely made shakuhachi, plays very well through all notes. Owner/maker/seller is very responsive to inquiries. Bamboo shakuhachi are usually quite expensive but this one is very modestly priced and affordable. If you want a flute of real bamboo, not composite or plastic, this is a very quality instrument for a low cost shakuhachi to begin your journey on this challenging instrument. Comes in an attractive case with sleeve and utaguci cover. I own several lower end priced bamboo instruments from different makers and I think this one is the best of the bunch.

I ordered this, then while waiting for it to come, did some reading around and saw lots of warnings about cheap shakuhachis online. I expected it to be Meh at best, I'd look it over and probably not keep it. But I'm really impressed! I'm a beginner, so we're talking the first two octaves here, Otsu and Kan, and it seems to do those fine. I've had experience with a PVC shakuhachi and the cast plastic Shakuhachi Yuu, and this plays easier than either of those. It's also a thing of real beauty. That matters more to some people and I didn't think I cared that much about looks but this thing is so beautiful, I've spent some time with a magnifying glass just looking at the beautiful grain around the mouthpiece and bell.

This is a beautiful shakuhachi, carefully produced with love and skill. It has good sound and plays easily. It comes in a protective box and is packages well-wrapped. It has an inlaid mouthpiece and comes with a utaguchi cover. In this price category you won't find anything better. Great buy from a reliable seller.

I am very impressed at the craftsmanship and quality of this shakuhachi. The notes are true and balanced. The tone is full. And, most of all, it is easy to play. I have other shakuhachi, but this one is my favorite. Even the bindings are flawless! I would expect this flute to cost much more.

Amazing shakuhachi

Beautifully constructed shakuhachi. Although I had no experience playing, I was blowing notes within minutes. I look forward to many years learning to play this gorgeous instrument.

Although it took nearly a month for the shakuhachi to arrive the experience of opening the box was worth the wait. A beautifully crafted instrument delicately wrapped and stored in a solid elegant case.The handwritten note in the back of the certificate was a lovely touch. A complete novice, I am able to get a lovely tone from the instrument helping me with my meditation journey.Thank you 🙏

I'm a beginner so don't have the judgement to tell between a good shakuhachi and an excellent one - that's the only reason this is 4 stars and not 5. The flute is delightful to play, challenging in a fun way, and requires precision in a way that encourages focus - you can see why it's used for meditation. Different styles of breath give a rich variety of sounds, and the pentatonic tuning means it's easy to improvise. It came with a well-made hard case, soft carrybag, and a friendly note from the maker.

Absolutely beautiful piece of craftsmanship, I am so so happy with this. I cannot wait to learn! Amazing value for money!
