not as easy as I thought...
This cover was purchased to help keep our camera dry during inclement weather on the mountain. I did not intend to use this cover to go under water. I thought it would be an inexpensive way to protect my expensive camera in rain and snow. The problem is that it is so difficult to manipulate the camera with the cover on I was always getting into the case and therefore not protecting the camera. I would rather put a bag over my camera than use this contraption, and I do. This was a waste of money and I certainly would never take my camera under water with this...it might be dry, but I wouldn't be able to take nay pictures!

worthless
This review has nothing to do with the vendor (Cametta). They packaged well and sent the item promptly. This product is simply a joke. Out of a desire to do cool things in the water on the cheap (but this thing is NOT cheap for what it is) I bought it despite having my doubts. Well... BELIEVE your doubts! I feel stupid for not being more pragmatic. I read the positive reviews (are they plants?) and thought I'd give it a try and now I have to decide to return or keep just because I'm too lazy.Where do I begin? It is basically a plastic ziploc bag I suppose. Where in the world do they come up with over a hundred dollars? It looks like it should cost perhaps $20 max. On mine the polycarb front cover has a deep blemish in the center. And there was some dust. (Contrast this with the wp-dc11 which I bought for my P&S Canon G7 which cost only slightly more and is a vastly superior product and the lens is clean.) Well I proceed to open it and find it hard to fit in my Canon 5D with a 17-40, a rather small lens. The lens casing does NOT retract to become flush with your camera lens. The lens clunks around and inevitably your pictures will show casing edge. To operate the camera is near impossible. You can dig your fingernail in to turn the camera on or push some buttons but then you feel like you might crack the plastic. The little finger holes are a joke. I found there was no way to turn my zoom lens. I can barely see thru the viewfinder.I tried to rationalize and say this may be useful for inclement weather or sand storms or maybe as a bag but who are we kidding. It's not even easy to pull this out of the plastic quickly for a shoot. I'm better off putting in a standard camera bag and when the weather breaks or there is mini-shelter like a tree or whatever, then I quickly pull out and shoot. This thing is worthless. If you insist on trying as I did, then perhaps try a cheaper knockoff. It will suck too but at least you won't be ripped off. Or buy mine, brand new and never used. I'm lazy to return (and worry about vendor resistance) so it may be easier if someone pays and then I ship. Just add on to this comment with your email or other info.

Keeps the Watter Out
What can I say... this product didn't fail at what I needed it to do - Keep water out of my SLR for underwater shooting. That said, don't expect to be able to do a lot of fine tuning once you get underwater. You can get at the shutter button, and that's about it. No big deal, I just jammed it into full auto and let Nikon do the thinking for me. You are probably better off buying a dedicated underwater point and shoot (The case reduces your SLR to a P&S anyway). If you do decide to go this route a word of advice: Water magnifies your subject (If you ever used goggles, you get the idea). It also creates a lot of haze if there is to much of it between you and your subject. On my first attempt, I used a 24-70mm and even at 24, I had to get halfway across the pool. On my second attempt, I used the excellent Tokina 11-16mm f2.8. It fit reasonably well in the casing, and by getting closer to my subject, I was able to get much better results.Pros: Keeps the water out as advertised.Cons: Not suited to professional work, better options for armatures

Great Overall
Overall, this is a great product and allows you to take stunning underwater photos (way better than a waterproof point and shoot) It does take some getting used to though, and it's main drawback (as has been noted by other reviewers) is , because of the unneccesary hard plastic casing over the lens area, the lack of the ability to move the zoom ring on the barrel of a standard SLR lens. This drawback in itself will affect sales. Dicapac should do two things. Keep this model for people who want to use it for large zoom lenses-where you can move the zoom- and make another model which has a soft plastic casing over the lens area which would allow the zoom to be used on a smaller standard lens. I I sympathise with the guy who said he had a leak with hi product but I think this is very rare other wise there'd be lots of such stories on the internet (which there isn't. I did some research before buying this) But in general this is essential for ocean shots, swim shots, pool shots, rain shots, etc etc. A slightly flawed but excellent product, and it's a great price too

Nice but dangerous
I think its a nice concept and i have used the "bag" style underwater cases but only on the cheap cameras.Bottom line is.......Why would i trust my $3,000 camera and lens set up to a $100 plastic bag.Your going to have to sacrifice, either spend a grand or more on a REAL underwater housing for your dslr or purchase an inexpensivehousing for a point and shoot. Good luck
