Good BJJ drilling dummy
Had this for a week and I like it so far. Good value for the price. I use it strictly for grappling/submissions/sweeps, no strikes.PROs:-Material seems very sturdy. Only worrisome part is the attachment at the shoulder. I've only had it for a week so it hasn't stood the test of time-Bent elbows and knees and flexible shoulders make it a good drilling dummy for most positions and submissions and somewhat mimics an opponent defending his arms by keeping them close.-The fact that you choose the filling gives you some control over the weight.CONs:-Filling the dummy is somewhat difficult. The legs don't have their own opening so you have to use the one on the back to reach down the torso, around the hip, then around the knee to get all the way down to the "feet". That took a while! The arms do have separate openings.-There is a long pair of Velcro tapes on the inside of each arm (not shown on any pics or description) to keep them stuck to the body. Good idea in theory but it can scratch the hell out of you while drilling if left as is. Thankfully, this can be taken care of by putting a t-shirt or a rash guard on the dummy (it is the lats side that's abrasive). In fact, I'd recommend putting something on it regardless so you can just throw it in the washer when soiled.-The dummy has no neck so it makes it a little difficult to drill chokes.-There are no hands or feet so you can't do wrist/foot locks-Because the arms are thick all the way down to the end, if you put a gi on it, it's pretty hard to grab the sleeve cuz it's so tight around the arm. Also makes it hard to practice drills involving grabbing a wrist.-The attachments of the arms to the shoulders (mentioned above) are just straps of leather stitched onto the top of the shoulder. It seems sturdy but I would be worried if you're drilling a lot of arm bars and shoulder locks. The straps also cause the shoulders to give no resistance at all as it freely rotates around. Would be nice if they were somewhat set to return to a neutral position like what's shown on the image.
