Mistletoe Mill Hanging Fabric Christmas Advent Calendar Countdown to Christmas Tree

This is such a cute advent calendar...it doubles as a great rustic Christmas decoration. I love the look of the green burlplap style material with the white embroidered stars. The background complements the red and green felt pockets with a different design on each very well. Although the pockets are no very wide, they fit a gold coin or a small Palmer's style Santa or snowman candy very well. My toddler loves moving the candy cane to a new pocket each day and says "1, 2, Merry Christmas" each evening we remember to do the calendar. I don't mind letting her eat 2 of the candies since they are smaller when we miss a day, which wouldn't be the case if the pockets held larger sweets. Because I love the rustic design, I will hang this for years to come and no longer have to scramble to buy a cardboard Advent calendar before they sell out.

I was looking for a holiday centerpiece to use as a Christmas countdown that was more lasting and of higher quality than the paper & god-knows-how-old chocolate inside calendars. This is perfect. It hangs nicely on our door and my 2 kids take turns every morning moving the candy cane to the next number where I'll have put any variety of tiny treats. Each pocket could hold about 6 gummy bears or 2 of the Kinder wrapped chocolate sticks. The quality of the calendar is such that I'm pretty confident it'll take my kids through the rest of their childhood and beyond (they're 3 & 8).

This is a really cute advent calendar, but I wish the pockets were either a little bigger, or had a fold to accomodate more goodies. With just the simple stitch on three edges, when you try to pack it with treats it gets really tight, and the edges of the tree bow away from the wall because of the (lack of) stretching. I put 4 hershey kisses in each one, and that was pushing the absolute limits of the pockets' capacity.

It is a lovely idea for an advent calendar. It is light enough to be hung on an adhesive hook and made really well with nice detail throughout. My only problem with it - the pockets are on a small side. I could only put 2 small sweets in each.

Good quality! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this item and how good it looks. It's a good size hanging on the wall, and the pockets are just big enough for small trinkets or candy.

Update to original review:While I still really like this calendar & am glad I purchased it, the pockets do NOT hold a gift card. In the original description (which appears as though it has been changed since my purchase) states that you can fill the pockets with goodies or store bought plastic gift cards. The pockets on the calendar I received are far too narrow for a gift card.

Some of the decorations on certain days were glued on pretty terrible. There is/was loose strings and dried up glue from a glue gun randomly all over. It will serve its purpose for a few years (hopefully). I just wish it was put together a lil nicer.......

This is a cute advent calender. It would have been nice if it came with something in the pockets.
