Look like the original, but don't work like the original
I was happy to find an alternative to the original Holmes filters, but these are worthless. Yes, they look similar, and yes, they fit the humidifier just fine, but they don't wick like the originals - water only wicks up a couple inches, compared to the original which wicked almost to the top of the filter. Consequently, they do a poor job at humidifying. I have a Holmes humidifier in a medium sized bedroom where I have my instruments, the original filters never had a problem keeping the room at the proper humidity, but these are completely ineffective - the humidifier is running 24x7 and the humidity keeps falling. I tried changing to a second set of these filters with the same result. It's worth the price to go with the original on this one.UPDATE: I verified my opinion above by installing original Holmes filters - within 2 hours of installing original Holmes filters the humidity was back to normal. Looking at the construction of the original and these after-markets, the weaving on the Holmes original is much tighter and the material is clearly different.

Holmes Humidifier filter review.
Great value! One of the better generic products I have ever received. Fits well, seems to do as good of a job as the name-brand filter. A bit noisy (air leakage?) but an effective filter.
