Prevue Hendryx Clean Life Playtop Cage, White, 1/2" (SP851W/W)

After reading reviews on TONS of bird cages here on Amazon and other bird-oriented websites, I chose the Clean Life Prevue cage.I am giving it 4 stars because:* yes it is flimsy and seems like it would only be good for parakeets. The wire bars came out of the box bent in places but because they are so thin I was able to bend them back into place, sorta.*The actual USABLE cage space for my bird is only 17" W X 17" D X 24" H (NOT 18") but the outside footprint of the cage is 22" W X 22" D X 27.5" T I was disappointed that my bird did not get to use more of that space.* As stated in other reviews, the door is weird. I think anything other than a parakeet would be able to work the door to get the latch open. My bird doesn't like to come outside of his cage at all so for him it's fine.*Because of the design, the food doors are too low to allow me to install the bath house. As a result, I am going to have to cut the cage wire to install the bath house - which should be easy since it is so flimsy :)*The cage came with 3 perches. 2 of them are long enough but the 3rd is not. Why? Weird.Overall, I am fine with it. It works for my purposes - giving a rescued parakeet more room. It was the least expensive cage for the size that I wanted. I am mostly happy with it. As I use it, I will update this review accordingly.

Nothing to attach the crappy plastic perches with, they are literally just hollow plastic tubes that you jam between the bars and hope stay put. The door latch completely falls off and door has to be held shut with a bungee cord I happened to have. Even the dowel to hold the play top open is just a plastic tube with no way to attach. There’s no way this would work. I’m literally using parts of other cages to hold this mess together. Two tiny food doors at the very bottom of the cage, no lids for the dishes so that, combined with the poor placement is just begging for food to get pooped in. Absolute trash cage for an obscene price.

I love this cage - I have one exactly like this but without the playtop and my birds LOVE it. SUPER durable and the tray catches a lot of junk they throw out with their beaks! My birds are small budgies.The cage goes together easy and is very sturdy. It is a large cage and great for 1-2 budgies (not more). The fact I love this cage is my birds only spend nighttime IN their cage with the door closed - but during the day they are out and about flying around. This cage provides the security of a perch for them to land on but also be by their food, water and a nice non-toxic place for their beaks to touch and their feathery butts to poop on.The tray slides out easy for cleaning ease. The sides wipe down and bottom easily can be snapped on and off for full cage cleaning.My birds will LOVE this new cage!

Overall I'm pleased with the cage. It arrived undamaged and seems to be sturdy. Gives lots of space for one bird, maybe two, but I wouldn't put more than two parakeet sized birds in it. If you have larger birds like cockatiels and conures I would opt for the taller cage.The disappointing thing is that in the online photo it clearly shows a WHITE base to this cage. The base I received is a pale, faded violet color. Most likely a manufacturing defect but it should have been stated in the online ad that some of the products are not as displayed and color variations can occur.

Product arrived damaged with several of the wires broken off the cage top. I hot glued them back on and am getting by like that for now while I wait for a replacement from Prevue.Pros:- plenty of room for our two budgies- they love the play top!Cons:- flimsy hardware- not all that "clean". the wide base seems to help slightly, but i think it should be even wider to make good on claims of keeping the environment around the cage clean.Plenty of room for our two budgies. I like the play top.

Nice design, large front door, pull out grate a plus. But, cheap, flimsy wire for a cage in this price range. Wire easily bent. C'mon Prevue Hendryx, nothing compared to cages of past. Extremely disappointed !!

We moved our finch family from small white cage to larger black one we just received.They are loving the more room.They are mama, papa and baby, with more room maybe baby can are siblings!The only drawback I see for finches is the door very big opening, it is more suitable for bigger birds, so I am worried if I need to get in thru the door they can easily escape.

This cage is 'fine' but not sturdy, plus I wanted to Return it because it is actually too large but squat for my bird. I am so used to Amazon's easy Returns that I was stunned when I saw I had to "Request" a Return and wait up to 2 days for any reply from this seller telling me whether I could or could not return it. They have finally agreed to take the return but only with a rather large restocking fee and shipping at my own expense with no other help offered. I'm not paying those extra costs with no prior warning from a seller. Amazon has spoiled me by being so responsible and easy to work with on Returns; I will never overlook seller ratings, which I guess I did, and will never order without being 100% sure a return policy is easily visible and acceptable to me, again. I hope this helps others to be 100% sure their sellers will be easy to work with *before* purchasing from them. Disappointed!

POSATIVES: Item very good value for money but much larger in real life than it looks in thepicture check dimensions: Cheap & used as spare cage holding pen only not a permanent cage.The sead catcher around sides it attached to base cant be used without it: Good for small birdsCanary Budgie etc; or holding tempary cage for medium birds: :-)NEGATIVES: Comes with 2 wide bars & one narrow perch for top opening: Perches are rubbishcheap thin plastic bars with ends that are supposed to fit into side wires but they keep falling offthey wonts stay on birds fall daown - needed to replace with wooden bard made of dowl:Cage wire is very bendy and thin puch pull bend much to easily: Feed bowls & their openingsto front bottom of cage are much to low down they need to be higher up: The door can be opened bybirds easily - needed to secure with something suitable or birds excape :-(

This cage is HUGE for my budgie but very open concept. The quality is flimsy compared to the $150 cage downstairs (considering the savings!!) but for this price it is a great deal. This cage stays in the bedroom so it’s durable enough for us! Highly recommended if you aren’t moving the cage a lot.

Love this cage it was so easy to put together an the size is great an my love bird loves it too the only things wrong were the way the door locks an the purches were wrong size but didnt matter i use tree branches

Very disappointed. The cage came very damaged. The bars are very flimsy. I wouldn't recommend this cage.
