Palm oil is a reddish-orange, semi-solid oil just widely in Africa and other countries. It is used as a frying medium in many roadside stalls in India adding a rich aroma to the food. It differs from other frying mediums in that foods fried in this oil do not exhibit an oily, rancid smell that fried foods cooked in others oils have after a few months. Palm oil is also commonly used to make homemade soaps and cosmetics.
