George, the Drummer Boy by Nathaniel Benchley
This book is also a gift and I think it is a good opening for the beginning ;of the Revolutionary War inthe 13 colonies. However, would it be possible to include someplace something like this: "This is meant for children on a second grade level" or :"This book is appropriate for children who are accelerated readers in Grade 1."Sister Ellizabeth Ann

This was a wonderful addition to our revolutionary war studies
This was a wonderful addition to our revolutionary war studies. It gives the perspective of a British soldier, which makes this resource very unique. I also love that my younger ones can read it and learn some history too!

Great information! Easy reading
Great information! Easy reading. Great British perspective on the Battles of Lexington and Concord. Companion to Sam the Minuteman. Best read by getting both books and do a compare, contrast.

George The Drummer
My son has enjoyed Sam the Minuteman for several months now. He checks it out frequently at our local public library. When I found George the Drummer, I was so excited. It follows the same quality of Sam The Minuteman. We are Homeschoolers and have trouble finding good wholesome reading material. George and Sam have become by son's favorites.

Great book for 1st-2nd grade level reading. My son really enjoyed the book and it opened the door for us to be able to talk about both sides of the Revolutionary War.
