Got these because i read squirrels don't like but apparently most of the other birds around here font either. They gummed up the bottom of an open bird feeder. I bet they would work fine in a small hanging bird-feeder and I think some birds ate them before rained on.

Great product and attracts many types of birds of various colors and shades. I’ve tried other seeds but they do not attract birds like this brand does. Many finches flock the socks I put the seeds in.

Update: We moved to MO & I purchased a new feeder. The birds here love them. They go through a feeder full in a day or two. Feasting all day long! I will order again!My bag of seed seems to be old. The birds aren't gobbling it up. Unlike the original seed that came with the feeder, this seed seems dull...not shiny like it's fresh. My return window just closed so I can't return it.

I used a sock feeder for the Nyjer seed and when I saw nuts mixed in I know this was trouble. As predicted, either a bird or a squirrel saw them too and made a hole in the sock letting the whole sock dump it all on the ground. Now I have to buy a new feeder as I still have quite a bit left of this 10 lb. bag. It was 28 dollars for the seed and now 21 dollars for a new feeder. I think nuts should be mentioned in this products ad.

I have been using this brand seed for 2 years, and have it on subscription. After trial and error I found this brand to be fresher seed with little to none stems or junk in it. Many brands of seeds lack consistancy, and can be light brown, contain unusable seeds full if broken stems and flower ends. This is almost always cleaned, dark and fresh seed. It isn't cheap, as my goldfinches/lesser goldfinches are here all year in California and go through 40 lbs a month. More if I let them! I got rid of the feeder socks as they worked great, but wasted so much seed. I bought one of those metal grate feeders and fill it once a day. I recommend this seed for consistant quality.

The finches love this seed. It seems to really clean content with no other seeds, no stems, and I noticed no dust. The finches eat it up!And Amazon is asking me to rate it for flavor. I do not wish to eat it myself since it's not food grade as far as I can tell and the finches flee when I try to ask them about the taste. So I give five stars since the birds keep eating it, but you should make healthy choices for yourself before you decide taste it.

My small bird’s love this finch seed, I mean I’ve never had so many birds flock to a sock,lol Well any bird lover knows that this finch seed goes in these yellow or white socks cause seed is extremely small. The birdseed is always fresh & packed well & for the money I’m very pleased & the greatest thing is my birds just love it!! I can’t keep those socks filled fast enough they devour it, so I know they love it & that gives me great satisfaction & a pleasure to watch my feathered friends!!

The finches gobbled this down in no time! Will definitely attract birds to your hanging feeder.
