Walimex Pro VE Excellence 4.4 studio set (incl. 2x studio flashes 400 W with integrated receiver, 2x lamp tripods, reflector and trigger)

I'm a humble hobbyist photographer, so am giving my assessment of the Walimex pro Studioset VE4.4 Excellence from my limited requirements and experience.The first thing that really impressed me is that the kit contains just about everything needed for a basic digital studio. I won't relist all the items detailed on the Amazon product page. But there's little else that I can think of that's I may need that's not included, other than a backdrop system and of course the cameras, computer and software..I've experimented and played with the various items over the past week or so and can confirm that everything seems well made, not the absolute highest quality of course but you really couldn't expect that in a bundle of this price range. More importantly it all works well and is easy and quick to put together and de-rig. Not having a dedicated studio space I love now being able to set this kit up in my spare room, then pack it away and store it in a cupboard when not needed. A great space saver and of course very transportable. Everything fits into the included bag, apart from the flash tripods, and so can be simply and safely carried or put in the boot of the car.Over the next few weeks and months I'm sure I'm going to improve my photographic abilities as I better master how to apply the use of the duel flash system, the remote trigger and the reflectors and soft boxes. Well that's the plan anyway.

This is a well constructed semi-pro lighting kit that utilises two flash heads and soft-boxes, a silver/gold reversible reflector and a flash remote control: with exception of the two lighting stands which have their own carry bags, the kit fits into a purpose made kit bag. The stands are solid and easily up to the task of holding the strobes and soft-boxes. The strobes have a built in fan to keep them cool and operate with a push button with a power range around 6 stops in 1/10th of a stop increments. For the purposes of this test I didn't use a flash meter, but set the camera to 1/60th sec and controlled the settings manually, in the first instance, and thereafter from the remote control with has up and down arrows for more or less light. I set the lights up with one for key lighting and the other two stops lower for shadow detail: the second strobe was set as a slave and the whole thing worked perfectly from the camera position. The lights have a built in receiver that works with the remote, so no additional clip on bits are required. The lights do have two pin power plugs and a shaver plug will not work with them: I had to buy a couple of 13amp converters before I could use them. Having said that, these are an easy set of lights to balance and use.Putting the soft-boxes together are the usual pain, but they are well made and feel durable: you have to fix the rods into a circular plate hat has numbers printed around the outer edge so that you get the rods in the right place. A fixing plate it then attached by removing a couple of screws and replacing them when the plate is in place. On the fixing place are three locating pins which fit into the front of each light and a clip-release holds them in place. Inner and outer translucent screens can be fixed with ease. The soft-boxes can rotate between landscape and portrait orientations, or anything in between. If I were to make a single criticism, I think that the carry case, although well made, does not hold the flash heads snuggly, although it does offer sufficient protection, overall.Walimex provides an extensive range of accessories and this kit represents a good, if fairly high end, basic lighting system. I have given it 5 stars because I can find nothing of substance to criticise: you can set the lights with a high degree of accuracy, they sync well and the remote control is a terrific addition.

This set contains absolutely everything you could possibly need to get really great quality photographs. The set is being used by my husband who is a semi professional photographer. I am reviewing this from his experience.First thing to say is that the price compares very favourably with similar kits...you get the more than adequate quality but at a smaller price.In this kit you get everything you could need bar the camera.Excellent quality, my husband particularly liked the ability to control each flash with the remote control. This has meant he can achieve just the right look in the photographs he is taking.Much of it packs neatly down into the studio bag when not in use...in particular the two flashes which means they can be safely transported about while being protected. This is particularly useful as we have no dedicated studio space my husband can use. It also means that this kit can be packed away and stored safely between uses.The two tripods are sturdy and easy to set up and use (as is the whole kit). They take up to 4kgs meaning that many lamps can be used with them.Included in this kit is:2,4 GHz receiver with 16 channelsflash output 400Ws, adjustable from 1/1 to 1/32 (I am told this will mean more to photographers than to me)exact output adjustmentextremely short recycle timesmodeling light (150W) adjustable in 6 levelsquiet fan coolingplug-in flash tubeAll in all a great set for amateur, semi professional and even professional photographers.
