B&W Trailer Hitches 20K Companion OEM Fifth Wheel Hitch - Compatible with Ford OEM Puck System - RVK3300

I'm new to the 5th Wheel world having had a bumper tow travel trailer for a while. Upgraded my truck to a new Super Duty and ordered with the pre-configured Ford 5th Wheel Prep (puck system). Did a lot of research and agonized about 5th wheel hitches or slipper hitches for increased turning. Decided on the B&W Companion after much research - the fact it comes in two distinct parts, each weighing approx 75lbs means it's easily dismantled and removed.DIY in our house means 'destroy it yourself' so I was somewhat worried about putting this together in the right way so my trailer didn't free itself at some point due to shoddy implementation. I was very pleased to find it was pretty much a doddle to install. I watched a couple YouTube videos and started the install. 60 minutes after starting I had a fully installed and functional hitch in the bed of my truck. Also pleased that the tonneau cover still closes over the hitch, which also takes up a surprisingly small amount of space in the bed.All in all, a great product, easy to install (and remove). Genius to make it out of two easily separated halves which makes removal a doddle if necessary. I've only taken it out once as it's surprisingly small. We've towed our 15,000lbs trailer over 2500 miles with it now with not a single problem. Very confidence inspiring.

Hitch arrived in two boxes. One of the saddle arms got bent in transit, but still works. Didn't have time to try to get a replacement.Assembly instructions were very clear. Verified all parts were present and gathered required tools.Installed on a 2023 Ford F350 with fifth wheel prep. Took me maybe an hour for installation.Picked up new fifth wheel. Latching and unlatching were no issue. Pulled very nice. No jerking when stopping/starting.Recommend purchasing a lube plate so you don't have to grease the 5th wheel hitch plate. So much cleaner. Only grease I used was on the king pin coupler jaws.

Great hitch. Handles heavy trailers without a problem. Integrated into the puck system seamlessly, although the handles were a bit tough to completely lock the first few times. There is zero play in the hitch connection to the truck. Great overall hitch. The only downside is the hitch is very heavy. The two separate pieces make it manageable, but still a heavy, but we'll built and strong hitch. Towed several hundred miles with a heavy trailer and never had one feeling of doubt, play or issues with the b&w hitch.

Hitch used on a factory puck system, easy drop in, no adjustment needed out of the box. Set the height of the saddle in the middle of the adjustment range, opened the jaws and trailer was level with 7” of bedrail clearance. Tows quiet, none of the pin clatter from excessive clearances up/down or front/back-side to side. Smooth action in the jaws makes hook-up and drop easy.

Well made and fits together perfectly. My only concern, and I am still working on this, is how to protect it from theft. After I got it installed, I thought about how to secure it to my truck, and how to secure the top half to the bottom half. For securing the top to the bottom, I thought I would replace the pin (see picture 3) with a locking pin, but then I am concerned about strength. Will my locking pin be as strong as the B&W pin? How to know? As for securing the base to the truck, the castle nuts on the four corners can be easily removed. Does this then allow the entire hitch to be lifted out of the bed? After getting it installed so easily, I have not taken the time to remove the 4 castle nuts so see what happens, also with both parts together, it is a lot for me to lift. When I have answered my own questions, I will try to update this review. In the meantime, maybe B&W will answer these for me.

I had trouble figuring out what hitch was compatible with my 2015 F350 SRW Crew Cab short box. I decided to take a gamble and order this hitch and it works perfectly. The assembly instructions were easy. It took less than an hour to unbox, assemble and hook up my 40’ Artic Wolf 5th wheel. I assembled the hitch with the kingpin as far back as possible and even without a slide, I have a full turning radius. Exactly what I needed!!

The hitch is easy to install. Fifth wheels by nature are heavy but the 2 piece design of this hitch allowed me to install it by myself. The directions for assembly are easy to follow as well. There videos you can find on the interweb that can also help. I am 100% satisfied with this purchase and the ease of assembly and installation.

The hitch itself is 5* plus. Functionally this hitch is remarkable and limited to no noise while towing. It easily installed on my F350 puck system and on the lowest setting the 5er rides pretty level. I also have a long bed, so I have it adjusted towards the front. Hitching and unhitching is simple and only takes a few seconds. I have a flat cover over my truck bed and this sits low enough for me to keep it covered with a few inches to spare.The reason for losing 1 star:The product was shipped to me damaged and missing a part bag. It was obvious that 1 of the boxes had been opened previously and the entire part bag removed. The top plate also was bent down on 1 corner (cosmetic). Luckily I had some spare bolts laying around so that I could pick up my 5er on time, but when buying something at this price that is just unacceptable. Long story short they sent me the parts and reimbursed me $75 for the damage, but I would not do business with the seller again.In summary get this hitch, but find another place to purchase...

Very heavy duty, easy to hook up the trailer. Very much of an improvement over my previous Reese hitch.

I purchased this hitch just under 1 year ago and to date it has been awesome. From receipt to use it is very easy to operate and to hitch up the trailer. I highly recommend it.
