If you have a premature baby, info you need
When a baby is premature and finally gets to leave the hospital, standard baby books and growth charts don't apply. It's nice to have a reference to help guide us in child development that is out of the "normal" standards until baby has a chance to catch up. God Bless premature babies everywhere!

it was ok
I honestly thought it would be about the first 5 years but it was mainly about the hospital stay. It did explained about procedures and things like that. It really didnt have anything about after, when they got to come home. No milestones info or catching up or maybe any problems your baby may have.

Good but not all that informative
Good for the basics but that's it. Has a lot of pictures from some photographer which I think was the purpose of this whole book but I would recommend looking for another book.

Very Satisfied Customer
The Preemie Parents' Companion: The Essential Guide to Caring for Your Premature Baby in the Hospital, at Home, and Through the First Years I bought this book because I needed more clarity on this subject.I was blessed with a preemie born 02Lb 5oz. This book was a great help at an uncertain time when I needed it most! I highly recommend this book, and buying online with Amazon.com!

useless after the first few months and outdated
I bought this after my twins came home and it was a waste of money. I'm glad I bought it used. My babies just turned 3 months old and there is really no helpful information in the book.

For New parents of a Premature baby
I got this book after a week that my twins were born at 28 weeks of GA.Found it very helpful to understand and very precise when you are overwhelmed with this emotional roller coaster and when you are trying to understand the terms of all the conditions that you babies are dealing with.IF you are at a more advance stage, where your kids are about to go home OR have been already in the NICU for a while, then, you may know already everything that is explained in this book, therefore, you should look for something else that will teach you how to deal with situations you may come across after your babies go Home

Excellent resource for the new preemie parent
This book is an excellent resource for a new parent of a preemie. Its primary focus is on parenting your baby in the NICU, and its filled with advice on how to handle your baby, ways to provide comfort and more protection and assistance in interacting with professionals in the NICU. Overall it is a comforting book which introduces you to the astonishing world of neonatal intensive care. The title is really a bit of a misnomer, as what the book does best is provide information for the new parent, especially one whose baby is doing relatively well and is not extremely premature. For someone whose situation is more fragile, I would recommend this be supplemented by one of the more extensive books in our recommendations on prematurity.org. However, there is a broad audience for this book, as most preemies will do well in the NICU and after; for those parents this is a gentle and supportive introduction.

After having a bit if notice that I might have my baby early I bought this book. My baby boy was born at 29 weeks and this book has been invaluable before and throughout our stay in neonatal. Simple and clear explanations throughout. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a baby on a neonatal unit. My copy was in fact borrowed by other parents on the unit who also found it helpful. Helpful in demystifying many things which are happening around you and giving you the information so needed by parents.

Photos are dated, but informative and still relevant. I wish I read it sooner on our Nicu journey

Great preparation for your premature arrival
I believe that your opinion of this book is going to depend upon your own personal circumstance. For me, it was several days after the surprise early birth of our daughter that I had time to go online and look for a book and then several more days before it arrived. Having spent most of our waking time in neonatal intensive care for two weeks, we'd pretty much learnt about 75% of the content of the book. It wasn't all that useful for us.If however, you've had some advance warning that you are going to have a premature baby, I think this book is one you should buy immediately and start reading now. You'll then step into the alien environment that is neonatal intensive care pretty well prepared and far more informed than we were.
