Love the variety!
I have both Larousse on Pastry and Larousse On Cooking and love them both. The amount of recipes in Larousse on Cooking is incredible and inspires me each time I go through it. I also really like the techniques section in the back of the book. These are not books for cooks who need extreme detail, but I love the simplicity, too, of the recipes in Larousse On Cooking, especially the appetizers. Also, what's incredible is that every recipe has a beautiful full color photograph, and I love that about any cookbook. It gives you a "target" for when you're cooking. My favorite recipe in the book is the Chicken in Salt Crust but also the Tomato Tart. Again, such straightforward recipes, simple in ingredients, but this represents how the French like to cook. If you need "schooling" in cooking, this book doesn't provide that level of detail as I can see that Larousse is trying to make everything "simple" (I noticed no recipe goes over 1 page, which is also great). This is a beautiful book and would make a great gift for someone who likes collecting cookbooks. I continue to cook through it and there are many recipes I love. Also, try the asapargus soup recipe!

Larousse cookbook
This is an easy to use cookbook that guides you in cooking elegant, delicious dishes. My mother in law graduated from Le Cordon B. and she loves it!
