Just depends on your needs
It is tall and sturdy but even my six month old 2.5 pound chihuahua puppy can move it all over if she really wants to be someplace else in the room when I am not there. The construction is really good but will only work with a small dog that doesn't mind a crate. I have used it with washable puppy pads at one end and her bed and food at the other and as long as she doesn't mind being there she is totally and securely confined. She has never climbed out but can push the crate around as she is a really determined chihuahua. The crate itself is well built but easily moved. The gate at first was a little difficult to open and latch back but after a few tries it was no big deal so not really an issue. I had hoped to have a crate that didn't move and I thought this would be the one but I didn't realize this tiny bit of determination could move it so I guess this is a misjudgment on my part. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a very well built crate and didn't mind if it could be moved but with a puppy pad in there the pad just gets squashed up and hence not much help in housebreaking. However, she is mostly housebroken but didn't like hopping over the edge of the door to get to her pad so I just turned the pen upside down so the top is flush with the floor and the lip is just an overhead thing and the door still opens and closes perfectly. She is tiny so that is not an issue with her being too tall and not wanting to duck to get to her pad. I just leave the door open and she goes in and out to use the pad. I have since made the pen smaller and taken her bed out and the pen sits well on a large dog washable puppy pad. She loves that she can go right in and out and her bed is across the room. Recently I tried taking the pen off the pad and she still uses just the pad but goes around the pad where the pen used to be before she does her business. So now I am going to use the pen just for travel and outside activities where I need her more confined.

A great alternative to the traditional crate!
Our beagle spends most of his time outdoors when the weather is nice. When it's cold and/or raining and at night, we bring him inside. We have a few cats that he has shown an interest in, so allowing him to freely roam our home is not an option. We originally bout this product to temporarily enclose our dog while we fixed our fence. When our fence was fixed, we brought the pen inside and did away with his crate altogether. Ibaka, or dog, now has quadruple the space and is much more comfortable. We are able to easily pet him from the top or go inside with him to play. We are planning to buy another one of these to adjoin to the original, giving him double the space! Two things to consider:1. if you are planning to use this indoors, keep in mind that it will slide around on tile and other smooth surfaces. Our dogs both learned how to easily push it all over the house with their noses. To eliminate this problem, we tied it to a permanent fixture.2. This is not very tall and probably wouldn't be suitable for a large dog. Our 60lb dog has easily knocked it over and if you have a "jumper", they could definitely clear it with no problem. I would go for a larger, sturdier model if you have a dog over 40 or 50 pounds.

Versatile Fence
I ordered two of the Ultimate ExPens from Precision Pet for the litter of puppies we just had a few weeks ago. It has been really handy for keeping the pups in their "room". We secured the fencing to the walls in our dining room to make a faux wall so they would have plenty of space. It isn't exactly the sturdiest thing, but it definitely works, and we were even able to fold a few panels in that were too long for the room so they have a "fenced" potty area. It works. It's a great size for a few puppies at a time to be in outside, but I wouldn't put all ten puppies in there at once. I don't think it would last! All-in-all, it was a pretty good purchase. The only con would be that it is a little bent out of sorts on some of the panels from shipping.

Holds up to my 50lb and 115lb dogs!
I'm using the gate as a barrier between our kitching/dining area and our living area. We've got one of those open design concept houses and the opening between the kitching/dining area and our living area is about 8 feet. I certainly wasn't going to try using some form of a door gate, the opening is too large. I got this super tall version because my 50lb dog is very athletic and she would've tried to jump over the smaller versions of this. So we installed some hooks on the one side of the opening, and threaded the long pin which holds the pen closed through those hooks to keep the gate tightly attached to the one wall. Against the other wall, we took the extra panels, folded them up against the wall, and stuck a small ottoman next to the wall to keep the gate up. Having the walk-thru door is perfect because we can keep the gate up all the time and use the door to go in and out. I haven't tried it as an enclosed pen, but it works great as a bigger "door gate" for our large opening.

Frustrating!!! 8lb Dog Can Escape
This is ridiculous, but I purchased and returned a shorter 30" gate a few months back because our then 4lb. Malitpoo puppy managed too climb and jump out of it the same night we received the gate. I waited a couple more months and a little worried with putting up the Christmas Tree I purchased this taller gate to potentially put up around the tree. Fortunately for us our pup wasn't or didn't go after the tree or anything under it, so we didn't need it for that. Additionally, I thought we could use this taller gate instead of the crate that he used during the day while we are at work to slowly give him more space while learning to potty train, but he managed to climb and escape within the 2nd day of implementing the use of this gate. And while he never went potty in the crate during the day, when he was able to escape the gate the potty outcome was not pretty. I'm really disappointed that the gate does not do the job of keeping our pup within a larger confined space because we want him to have more space (eventually the house), but slowly to ensure he doesn't go (potty specifically) where he shouldn't. For the one day that he had more space and hadn't figured out yet how to climb the gate he did not make a mess, but when he was able to escape it he did find a potty area within the house. Now we feel bad to keeping him confined to the crate, but that is what works. Well for now until I look into a TALLER gate!

Would have chosen a different pen
It rusts after only a couple of weeks being used indoor only.I would have bought a pen that has clips to prevent the panels from moving around. This pen is not as sturdy as others and my always sleepy 9 week old puppy was basically moving this around the living room. Also in the future I will just buy a big crate even for a young puppy cos they will be able to escape this pen too soon to make this pen worth the price.
