The Kitty Tube Insulated Outdoor Cat House - Feral Option with Straw and Low Voltage Pet Heating Pad

I have four feral cats that I feed, trap, have them neutered or spayed. The weather here can be nasty, especially with our drenching rain that blows sideways, temperature extremes etc. I have two of the kitty tubes which works out well. The single problem I had was due to a big old possum taking one over. Lifting the top off to clean I discovered the culprit. He played possum--even when at last I dropped a small bucket of cold water on him. I ran with the critter inside to the edge of my porch and tossed it off. The possum escaped running as fast as he could. I lost my balance and fell off the porch on top of the shelter--ouch! Despite the potential for damage, the tube fared better than us --myself and the possum. The shelter has been free of critters since that one episode. If you live in an area where you have raccoons or possums, it would be good to check what is using it for a "home" every now and then.

Overall appears to be a good design, well thought out, well constructed but will see how it holds up in winter...

What a wonderful company and what a wonderful product!! All companies can take a lesson from Kittytube. They put the animals and their products before any bottom line dollars. When I had a question for customer service they were prompt and so incredibly kind. I did not have any problems, I had a question and customer service was outstanding. Highly recommend you purchase this product for any kitties that live outside. Chicago had a brutally cold winter and the stray/feral kitty my aunt feeds was thrilled to have a warm and toasty kittytube house to curl up in and call her own. Thank you Kittytube for being so innovative and awesome to the poor cats that must live outside in such harsh conditions. Now if you could please come up with a wonderful warm doggytube house for all the poor outdoor pups.

I was a bit nervous that our neighborhood stray wouldn't take up residence in the Kitty Tube but once it got cold enough, he went right in. Right now in MN it is about -20F with the wind chill and this contraption is keeping our sweet stray Nigel warm and safe.About a week after Nigel moved into the kitty tube, the heating pad stopped working but thanks to excellent customer service, we had a new one in no time. They understand MN winters and keeping kitties safe.While I would much rather have Nigel live indoors with us, our indoor cats nor he would allow this arrangement at this time (but we're working on it!). The kitty tube is the next best thing- it feels really toasty warm inside.

Improvements to the Kitty Tube make it a much better product. The first one I purchased was always wet inside with rain etc. With the plastic shield over the opening and cover over the opening much drier inside. Had to use a little duct tape to the sides of the plastic to keep it in place but it works for me. This time the straw was fresh and clean. When I did a reorder of straw in the past it was old and didn't smell fresh.

Very nice product except if it gets windy the top may come off and your top insulation may blow away like mine did. Now I have to buy more insulation. I'm not happy about that. It costs 60.00 to buy more after I just paid over 200.00.
