Wow! Great book for WI birders
I purchased this to help with a beginner birding program our Bird City group was offering. It was so helpful. The youth loved it and almost every parent asked where they could get their own copy. The color organization is helpful and when the male and females are so different, they get their own pages. The photographs are very well done and we all appreciate the hints on what to look for highlighted in the photos. The information provided was spot on and the Stan's Cool Stuff was fun to share. I also respected that the book was well edited, the language was plain, but not talking down to. This would be a perfect gift for any young Wisconsin birder along with "coupons" for birding trips and a pair of binoculars!

Excellent for kids AND adults!
We recently put up a bird feeder and have enjoyed seeing the variety of birds that stop by to eat. My granddaughter, age 5, was coming to visit so I thought an easy bird book would be nice to show her. as it turns out, the book is a bit difficult for her. But I have to say, I have enjoyed having the book on hand. It is organized by the bird's primary color, so for example you can find the info on cardinals by going to the red tab section. We get a wide variety of birds in our location, and this book includes all of them and then some.

Good Information and the customer service is right on top of things!
We purchased this book for our 12 year old son for Christmas. We are all loving the photos and information shared in the book and we are learning a lot. It has a high interest for both adults and children. My son originally saw the adult version of this book at his aunt's house and wanted it. When I searched for the book I found the kids' version which is perfect for him. I had a small issue and contacted customer service and they were great! My son did find two small errors in the book on page 150 and 214...on one page they used the term male when they should have used female and did a similar thing on the other page. But the information in the book, makes up for the erros.

Great beginner guide
Purchased this book for my grandchildren. While they can’t read yet, they actually can find the bird they are looking for in the book because it’s organized by main color of the bird. If they see something at their feeder they can’t identify, they find it and my daughter reads them the description and facts. All the basics are covered, it’s a good beginner field guide to instill a love of birds. They love learning about the birds they see and about the birds they could see in their neighborhood. I’m an avid birdwatcher and in my opinion, this is a great place to start for young birders or anyone who just wants the basics and a simple easy to follow field guide.

Exactly what I was looking for.
We ordered this over a year ago and have been using it quite a lot through all the changing seasons as birds come and go. The book has survived an enthusiastic 9 year old toting it with him everywhere and even several spills on it. Through it all the book has held up and has really been one of the favorites in our collection. Can't recommend enough. I think I will be buying one for each kid since the oldest has seriously bonded with his and I doubt ever plans to give it up.

It is so much fun for my son to take the book along on trips and identify birds. He gets so excited when he recognizes one he knows :) This book is nicely sized for little hands too! We definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about birds of Wisconsin :)

Great for kids
This is a really great book for new birders. We bought this and some binocs for our grand nieces and they have really gotten into birding. They recognize the birds, know their names and their birdcalls. They keep the book in the kitchen where they can watch the bird feeders while they eat. The book is highly recommended.

Bird watching - helps kids give electronics a break!
Helps give the electronic devices a break with getting kids into bird watching and learning birds of Wisconsin. Well written book with colorful pics on every page. Easy read for a 7-yr old. My 4-yr old gets so excited to tell me and now show me what birds he saw during his day. Great gift for kids.
