Here's the deal with this movie. It's basically a long-winded and cheesy melodrama about a guy who has an unhealthy obsession with his sister.Mark Damon (The Devil's Wedding Night, 1973; Black Sabbath, 1963), who is usually a good actor, really hams it up here. And he is in almost every scene. He is definitely the centerpiece of the movie.Anyway, he's got an unnatural interest in his sister, played capably by Claudia Gravy, and so he wanders through the film, feeling tormented and confused. And that's a big part of the problem with this production. The film is heavily padded with scene after scene of Mark Damon staring into space and looking sad, or staring into space and looking agonized, or staring into space and looking sweaty, or staring into space and looking jealous, etc. etc. You get the idea. The whole movie, for the most part, is just Mark Damon staring into space, while getting all emotional.Now, if you really like Mark Damon, or maybe even have a crush on him, then you will have no problem with that. But I found it tedious and frustrating; as soon as he started staring again, i would fast-forward a little bit, just to get through it.Now it is true that this film has plenty of lush and gothic photography, which is beautiful to look at. And there are occasional flashes of nudity, which spice up the proceedings a bit.You see, the sister is actually married, so Mark Damon's character hides in the closet and watches while she makes love to her husband. Again, he stares, and his face gets all sweaty. And there is also a prostitute that resembles his sister, so he stares at her too, while she entertains her various clients.There is also a murder mystery, as a sub-plot, where victims are stabbed in the neck. That mystery is resolved by the end.But the movie, as a whole, is sort of a soap opera. Mark Damon rides around endlessly on horseback, and gives everyone a glimpse of his tormented face.I should add that if you are expecting this to be shocking or edgy, you will no doubt be disappointed.In fact, the thing I enjoyed the most about the whole show was the abandoned village, where I guess all the inhabitants must have died in a plague a long time ago, Those scenes were creepy and very atmospheric.All in all, though, this was an okay movie, but just okay. The strong production values, beautiful settings, and nice costumes helped bring it up to three stars. But, to be honest, I would only recommend it to big Mark Damon fans.

If you like weird Italian genre films of the '70s, you can't do better than this one. It it part giallo, part Gothic horror, about a man who is possessed by the titled demon, the Demon Of Incest! It is what it is, as murders happen to young women and we must discern if the man is actually possessed of it it someone else doing the dirty deed? Long unseen film, on DVD-R (taken from a German print subtitled in English by someone who definitely has English as a second language!) is in widescreen and easy to understand, even in the horribly subtitled translations.

it seems the mixing of sex and violence against women took root in German films at the same time it took Root in British films which eventually manifested itself in the United States , the merging of interactive media is what has amplified this violence in the General Population , I believe violent Video games which desensitizes the adolescent mind to the reality of action is the cause of probably all the youth related crime occurring now , I theorize that none of this could not have happened without the slow and continuous eroding of the moral (id)

It's a bit dated, but not a bad horror film.

What a find. This was really a treat. I thought that I had seen almost all of the good gothic films from this time. This one slipped by me. Sinister Cinema brings this out with a very nice looking transfer. Sharp and good color. Subtitled in English with German dialog. The film itself features wonderful scenery, custumes, gorgeous actresses, a strong lead performance by Mark Damon and a story which kept me engaged from start to finish. Recommended for Hammer Films fans.
