Abacus

I got this as a gift for a friend that has a degree in mathematics and had mentioned wanting an abacus for fun. This one is nicely made, does have an antique style to it, and comes with a silky Asian motief box. The abacus fits very snuggly into the box, but does come out with a little effort. I don't understand what the coins are for, but they are a fun trinket too I guess. I think this is a good item for anyone interested in math. The box is purple/pink design so it's not super manly, but did not offend my male friend, but could be an issue to some. You could gift the box separately to a little girl or something.

This is a nice little abacus. Like in the picture, it has a nice antique feel to it. It fits snuggly in it's beautiful box. So much so, in fact, that I wasn't sure it was supposed to come out! But it does come out. At 4.5 inches by 7 inches, it's not too big and not too small. The coins are much smaller than expected and certainly aren't real, but they're cute. It doesn't come with instructions so I need to wait for my book to come in before I can have a clue how to work it. Shipping was fast, price is great, definitely worthwhile.
