Goodbye Hoya, Hello Marumi
I have always used Hoya filters and equipped all of my new lenses with Hoya Pro 1 filters, but have since found them very hard to clean for some inexplicable reason. Looking through some on line reviews, I stumbled upon Marumi and have since replaced a couple of my Hoya filters with Marumi Super DHG items and have found them to be of excellent quality, with the benefit of being more easily cleanable. They also appear to be of great optical quality, which when one spends considerable sums on good lenses, is a major consideration.Replacing all of my existing Hoya filters would be a costly exercise, however it will be Marumi all the way for me from now on.

Excellent performance at a reasonable price
An excellent quality filter with no visible effects on images. Having spent 35+ years involved in photography (retail, professional photography, pro photo processing but now just for fun!) I can highly recommend Marumi filters. As good as they get.

Good Product
It fits perfectly. I am using as lens protection primarily. Screw threads seem well engineered, comes on and off without problems.

Marumi Filter
Want an UV filter that really does its job. This is the one. More expensive than other brands, but you only buy it once. Well worth the extra cost.

Nice quality UV filter
I've used Marumi for filters for a good few years now (though I try other makers too)The DHG (digital high grade) series is multicoated and available in lens protect, UV and CPL as well as others. All feature a low profile size, lots of coatings to help reduce ghosting and internal reflections, a satin painted filter ring again helps reduce reflections, plus black ink on the outer edge of the glass filter. The "super" v the normal DHG is an additional coat added to the filter surface which helps repel grease, dirt and water/oil and it does seem to help here. V the normal filters the DHG is slimmer, if size isn't an issue (for vignetting with wide angle lenses) there isn't a lot of difference v the normal multi coated Marumi's (they are quite good too) a few extra coatings on the DHG range.I've used both the normal DHG and Super. If you're outdoors a lot and can get the front element dirty at times the "super" is worth looking at, for most normal uses then the standard DHG is the one to go for. I've used these filters even on older film lenses (note they're just fine on film cameras too) and they do help tame reflections and flare, and in some cases can improve older lenses when used on digital bodies. The UV filter is often used as a "lens protector" by many nothing wrong in that, but there are only real advantages if you are using film for the UV aspect. It won't make any difference to digital capture (film can benefit from a UV filter at times)Marumi hit the spot for me as they make "good quality" filters, and the prices are not unreasonable either. A few brands out there are a bit OTT price wise, on the other hand you don't really want to use the ultra cheap makers either as they can cause issues with flare and hurt image quality. Recommended from me after years of use I've been very pleased with the quality of these filters.

Excellent performance, verified with Nikon Prime Lens in Photoshop CS6
I use this for my Nikon Prime Lens 50mm f1.4G, the previous UV filter of which was scratched. Its performance was checked with my Nikon D800 taking identical pictures on tripod with and without this UV filter. While there is some measurable loss in brightness (but within a couple digits of Photoshop-sampled color codes), the linearity and sharpness were essentially unchanged. Summary: Excellent product. Highly recommended.

Same quality as the lens of my sigma 50mm 1.4
I took very good care of my lens, but I was always skeptical when people said I should put a filter on my lens for protection. I bought Nikon's NC filters (expensive), but I end up taking away the glasses of the filters put only the metal rings on. I could not stand the filters getting dirty and scratches. I bought the 52mm version of the Marumi filters a year ago, it is still as clean and as good as new. The Marumi 77mm Super DHG Filter UV L390 MC if for my Sigma 50 mm 1.4. When I put it on, it bond with the lens like it is part of the lens and build for the lens. Same quality and same feel. It is not always like that. I will keep it on for the life time of the lens.
