The Samaritan

I purchase DVD's to watch while I am in bed for the night. I do not normally have time during the day to spend watching movies so I take advantage of the down time once I am in bed. I normally fall asleep during the movie requiring that I start it again the following night and sometimes even a third night.I purchased SAMARITAN as it was in my genre and I happen to enjoy Samuel L. Jackson. The problem I had was that I stayed awake to watch the entire movie. Perhaps I do not get out enough but I found this to be a very riveting movie and I did not expect the ending. It kept my attention and I enjoyed it. There is a lot of action but also a bit of a love story as well.I am not one of the better Reviewers who can give a Siskel and Ebert type rendition, I can only say that it was a worthwhile purchase, I enjoyed it and I will be sharing it with my friends until I watch it again.I would recommend this as the entertainment value far exceeded the purchase price.

Not sure how this one slipped under the radar. It is bold and it is brutal, and the twist in the story really surprised me. More than just an action movie, there is an actual story here, hidden in what initially appears like just another movie about a career criminal trying to go straight after getting out of jail, but unable to hide from his past.

This is a very good movie that will keep you guessing all the way to the end. Samuel L. Jackson performance is outstanding as always. Ruth Negga, a newcomer, is also really good.Foley (Jackson) gets released from prison after serving 25 years for killing his partner. His partner's son wants revenge. Not the usual kind, a different kind of revenge. Then Iris (Ruth Negga), appears and falls in love with Foley. Everything is slow and for a moment we think is a love story or a back stubbing plot. At the 40 minute mark of the movie the plots gets really twisted and then we start guessing all the way to the end which is a surprise.Four stars for the decent plot and the acting. Look forward to watch more movies with Ruth Negga. She has a great future in the business.

A plus flick!

I love Samuel L Jackson. He is such a versatile actor. I love any movie he play in. Yes, you can say I am one of his biggest fans. I own a lot of his movies. This is another action pack movie of his. I would recommend this movie.

Samuel L. Jackson's great performance, it keep me on edge at all times.

A great suspense and thriller at the same time, a sleeper of a film. I had no clue that Samual L. Jackson was in this film I guess it was not big in hollywood but still a good crime caper film.

This was a somewhat strange movie...but I love the storyline! It wis similar to real life!

Samuel Jackson stars as a convict who served 25 years in prison for murder. The film starts off with him just being released but no one is there to greet him. No family or friends, no-one. He is a very lonely person. now the movie is all about 'Grifting' however its not a very good 'Grift' in my opinion. It's not an action packed but it is an action movie and there are some excellent action scenes. The story is okay but the twist is a bit strange (I don't know if I like it or even if it works). The ending is Ok but they could of done a lot more with it.My conclusion would be: It's an all round Ok/good film, it is worth a watch and for £2.99 New on blu-ray from amazon, Cant complain. It's not a bad film!

Samuel L. Jackson, who is one of my favourite actors, really serves some action in this movie. He is just out of jail and offered to be part of an 8 million dollar heist against a kingpin. He needs all the tricks up his sleeve that he learned in the streets in order to stay one step ahead and thus stay alive.

One of those movies you watch once then off to a charity shop,i like Samuel L Jacksons movies but not this one ,one or two of the characters are not that good and it brings the movie down

This is not a very exciting film but the plot does keep you with it. I thought it had a weak ending but worth watching once.

I thought this was good lots of action & a good story plus samuel l is good plus i got it at a good price
