Experiences in Spiritualism with D D Home

A bit dull, but very informative
Robert Browning once wrote a book called "Mr. Sludge, the medium". It was ostensibly about Daniel Dunglas Home, the most famous physical medium of his day. Mr Browning obviously didn't like D.D. Home, but his Wife, Elizabeth Barrett Browning loved him! Perhaps that's why Robert hated him.Robert's hatred of Home, and of mediumship in general just about sums up the relationship between the elite classes of his day (and of our's too) and spiritualism in general. Their hatred of all things spiritual was based more upon visceral sensations than upon evidence. In any case, D.D. Home was a fabulous psychic medium who could perform spectacular feats of physical mediumship in broad daylight. He could levitate tables, people, and even himself. He could stretch his body a foot. He could play a concertina with only one hand, leaving the other end suspended. (Observers said that it played such lovely melodies that it brought tears to their eyes.) He even levitated himself out of an upper story window, across open space and into a window in another room. This book documents his feats. It was never intended for publication. It was really a diary written by Lord Adare and his father over a period of many years. It's a shame, really, that Spiritualism and mediumship never get a fair hearing today. They are real phenomena, and deserve attention, at least by people who want to read about real modern day "miracles".

I could not put this book down until I read it all. Great accounting about physical phenomena with Daniel Douglass Home.
