This two-in-one distributor and tamper is something that I really needed sooner for my espresso. I was previously using the razor to distribute my grounds and then just guessing how hard to press with my tamper. This distributor works so much more efficiently and the tamper takes the guess work out of how hard you need to press. For espresso, consistency is key so I would highly recommend this. It is kind of expensive, but it seems well made and very durable, so I think it will last for the long haul.

I was a little concerned after reading the review that a previous buyer had one with sharp edges, but I decided to roll dice as I only noticed it in one review. My adjustable tamper/distributor came with a very nice fit and finish. While the internal thread were sharpe there were no other sharp edges too speak of . The stainless was polished to a very high quality mirror shine, and the black anodized aluminum locking rings are of the level of quality that one would expect in a quality camera lens.

I bought the Breville espresso machine and a friend told me to buy this rather than using what the machine came with. This makes pressing the ground beans very seamless. It is heavy and very good quality. You barely have to press down to pack in the beans and it is super easy to clean.

This is amazing. It’s got a great weight to it and makes life so much easier. My shots were coming out uneven and this has alleviated that problem. It also has the perfect tamping pressure. Can’t recommend enough.

I bought this to help disperse the coffee grounds evenly on the portafilter. It does a perfect job at it. Also, you can set how deep you want to tamp your coffee grounds in the portafilter. If you are having problems applying the correct weight when tamping, this tool will help do consistent tamps. This is certainly a must have tool for a beginner barista. I highly recommend it.

I would not trust the flat side to be a proper tamper. I use both sides as levelers.

This one was much cheaper than the brand I got recommended, I was shocked by how high quality it feels, it is a very heavy object and feels premium.
