Addicting!!
I learned about this author and his book from Rush Limbaugh. His rave review, my great respect for him, I knew they would be good. He was such a fan of Vince Flynn, I knew these books would be great. YES, this was a great read! I enjoyed it thoroughly! THANKYOU. Well worth I am now officially devoted to the series. Very exciting!!!

A Great Thriller
What a rousing story! After reading financial reports, legal documents, proposals and occasionally looking through the IRS website for deductions I may have missed, I want - neigh, need - escapism. False Assurances, ironically, would not let me escape. Even at 1:30 AM or later, it hurt to put it down. Excitement rips from almost every page; I was hooked.Just because a novel has a good story doesn’t mean I like it. I’ve tossed many books into the trash well before their conclusion - the prose was so wretched that I could go no further. Rosow easily clears that hurdle. His writing is crisp, descriptive and smooth-flowing, though don’t expect the book to be grand literature like To Kill a Mockingbird or Catcher in the Rye. It’s not mystical, theological nor philosophical. It’s simply pure entertainment. In spades.Rosow’s primary character is Ben Porter, a young, bright, chubby FBI analyst. The character is well-crafted and grows in self-confidence and self-assurance as the book goes along. He has great gut instincts, is able to connect disparate dots of evidence and is willing to stand firm with his insights and convictions. Other characters good and bad are also well developed, though I wish he (and most other authors) would be more physically descriptive: Is a character young or old? What color hair? Age? Height? in too many books, including this one, we’re often left to our own imagination about how characters look. That’s just my cavil, though.Enjoy the rollercoaster of blue water sailing and hijacking, murder and betrayal, smuggled bombs and Russians. Rosow supports all the action with much technical knowledge of things, events and processes, all of which add a lot of realism without being pedantic. This is a great book to take on, say, a trip overseas. Not for reading on a Mediterranean beach, though, for you will probably have raced though it on your flight. It’s that thrilling.

Great thriller! I couldn't put it down...
I was listening on the day Limbaugh mentioned it, and I wrote down the name and put it on my list. I am only embarressed it took so long to get to it. This is just the kind of thriller I love . The Ben Porter character is the kind of guy everyone thinks they would like to be.

it Is not ready for prime time
I’m an avid reader, and I’m a huge fan of Tom Clancy, Brad Thor, and Vince Flynn.I finished the book in a day. It started off too slowly and was debating quitting it after the first 100 pages. It got better. In understand that this was the author first book, and he had no publisher or editor. It needed it.I found myself repeatedly finding a scenario that was not plausible. The writer it telling a story, and by the use of words, creating an image the readers mind of what is happening. A great writer creates this image in the readers head. This is why books are invariably better than the movies made from them, because it is easy (and cheap) to create the image in someone’s head with words versus creating it on a movie screen. But if the writer fails to paint a consistent and plausible story line, the story just collapses. Some aspect of the story were well done. Some were not. The main plot had some holes in it. The bad guy motivation had some plot holes. The role of the FBI was one of incompetence. Certain things during the investigation were too implausible, and anyone would spot the problems immediately.I see some people were put off by the use of the F-word. I did not notice it.Spoiler alertI’m thinking in my head, “Why not check for surveillance cameras?!” Any idiot knows that, yet the FBI and police don’t? And some FBI analyst thinks it up? It’s just silly. I did not like the portrayal of the women in the FBI. Just not realistic. The main character did not have proper character development. (He could have, but the author choose not to do it).If a helicopter was hovering over your house at 100 feet while you slept, and 4 guys rappelled to your front yard and then broke a window, do you really think it would be the broken window that woke you up? Seriously? This is such an obvious and silly mistake.I read the first few chapters of the next book, and there was another glaring contradiction between how the first book ended, and how the second said the first book ended. Dirty bombs are not nuclear explosions. They are not remotely similar.I believe I heard Rush recommend this book. While the author certainly did a fine job for his first book, it Is not ready for primetime. It needed a good editor to help refine the plot and character development flaws, and fix the multiple plot holes. If the reader keeps finding obvious glaring errors, the book needs more work.I don’t know if I would buy the next book or not.

Darned good read!
Oddly enough, I didn't realize I had this book. And I have it on Kindle which I also didn't realize I had. I was gerfingerpoken around my computer yesterday avoiding studying when I found Kindle and this book, "False Assurances." It's really really good--fast paced. I''ve crewed on some sailboat races and I got hooked on this book when I thought I'd caught the writer in an oversight (about contacting the race committee when he dropped out). But no, all the boat stuff and racing stuff was accurate! This book is, as I said, fast paced. The good guys are good and the bad guys are truly evil so I was happy when each got taken down--I love it when the good guys win! Loved also that lots of threads tied back in. I particularly liked the way the writer structured the book introducing characters just enough and then circling back to them when needed for more understanding. The best part is that I waiting long enough to find this that he's had time to write more so I don't have to wait for another Ben Porter book to come out but can buy it now. Thanks!I read this first book non-stop so I guess I'll have to wait for winter break before I read the others. Otherwise I won't get any studying done.

Best in years!
Best book I have read in a long time. I don’t usually write reviews but I enjoyed this book so much that it sent me to my keyboard. I enjoy book series. To me a good book series read is like exploring a new box set of a TV series. This book is the beginning of a new series by a new author that in my opinion is the best since Bosch. I love the characters, the plot, the twists and the humour. I hope that this series goes on for 20 books! No, make that 30 and I will be in line to buy everyone!

Confusing Read
I liked the first part of the book talking about the character working at the FBI then it goes on and on and on about some boat race that seemed like it was going nowhere so I put it down at Chapter 18.
