I bought this for my daughter who is now 60!
I first bought this book for my daughter who is almost 60. It was one of her favorite books because she had a little chair that she loved. Since then I buy Ezra Keats books for grandchildren and friends. It is always well received.

Heartwarming Little Book
I remember this from when I was a child and bought a copy for my own kid. It's an adorable story about a mildly bratty kid learning a life lesson and learning to share with his newborn sister. Great art style too.

Love the adventure and problem solving for toddlers
I bought most (8) of the Ezra Jack Keats series for my 2 year old. Love that I can give him a series of stories with the same main character who is also a little black boy on an adventure.

Charming classic story about a little boy with a new sibling. I had such fond memories of it from my childhood and it holds up to those memories!

Excellent book
This is an amazing book. It’s perfect for children who are about to gain younger siblings. I get to as a gift for the ones I know. Also, when I first encountered this book in the 80s, it was one of the few I could find with non-white characters.

Keat's Peter is such a sweet kid, dealing with typical sibling jealousy
This book is a classic. Keat's Peter is such a sweet kid, dealing with typical sibling jealousy. His "running away" is hilarious, as is his "hiding" in the house. Both are very gentle and realistic. His parents roll with the flow and stay in the background of the book, letting Peter come to his own realizations about the new baby.

Fabulous memories
I have a vague memory of seeing this book and having it read to me as a child in the 70's and was thrilled to come across it again. The first in Ezra Jack Keats series "A snowy day" and this one that followed it were the first US children's books to portray an african american child as the leading character, and to show a multi-cultural Brooklyn of the 1960's. Perhaps why it was so memorable to me as a child in England.Possibly better known across the pond, where the author is cherished, it would be wonderful to see the series more widely available here in the UK, especially when I find it can still be difficult to find positive/main images of black people in children's books.I would recommend every one of this authors books, simple tales lovingly told.Just introduced them to my two year old daughter and hope they will stay with her too.

Sencillo y precioso
Comprado de segunda mano, llegó un poco arrugado, pero en general bien.El libro es precioso, habla de los celos y de los hermanos mayores y de compartir y colaborar. Las ilustraciones me encantan. No me extraña que sea un clásico.

All families change!
A sweet story about adjusting to familial changes and adapting to sharing your space and things with others, navigating the physical and emotional challenges that come with that. Lovely to see a family of protagonists that look my family!

Wonderful book - gentle, kind and understanding of sibling rivalry
This is a gentle, warm, simple tale of a young boy displaced by the arrival of a new baby. A lovely book for any child in this situation but also a very useful book for teaching older children that you can "show and not tell" in writing. Children will know what Peter is feeling but the words jealous / envious / rivalry are never used.

Good story well told
I had this book for my own children and was interested when my oldest son asked me to buy it, amongst other books, for his children. It is a very nice story for young children who have a new baby in the house and are coping with feelings of jealousy. However any child would understand Peter's predicament and find the book interesting. It is not prosy and didactic in the way some 'ecology' books are and it is well illustrated too.
