The fit for this was very weird. It fit my daughter well from the waist down, but the arm holes were way too large and left her very exposed on top.

The mermaid one fit great in the bodice..but the straps were too big and kept falling off her shoulders..It was very bright and vibrant when it arrived,but faded after two washes..I ordered another in a different pattern and it was perfect..so not sure what going on with this one..

I have a 7 year old who has a little more weight than the “average” (using that term very loosely) size in her age group and is taller than most. Built like a 10 year old. I followed the size chart and went up a size based on reviews but it was still small. You can tell the belly area was tight based on the discoloration of the material to the rest and the leg part was tight as well, as she has a little booty on her. The material is overall good, very cute one piece but I did return and order the next size up. If it wasn’t for the pool party we had to attend,I would have sent that one back too and ordered another size up. With that being said, look at the chart and go 3 sizes up. The reorder was still a little tight so I had to make my own adjustments and stretch the leg area out. If you have a “not so average “ little one, go 3 sizes up.
