The Dolce Diet: Living Lean
O**Z
Key word, Living...
Living Lean...key word; Living. I'm in my late 20's and ever since I can remember I have been overweight, recently to the point where I was 230+ pounds and my blood pressure was skyrocketing by the day. With heart disease in my family history I decided to make a change. First I must let you know that I have always been one to go for the quick fix, the easy solution, diet pills, fad diets, skipping meals, etc. and I would always lose weight, but undoubtedly gain it back...with interest. I was looking for a diet where you could function, without starving yourself, without skipping meals, without pills...enter The Dolce Diet. I'm a huge MMA fan and familiar with Mike Dolce and his work with the MMA community and helping them make the cut, so to speak. At the weigh-ins, I would always see Mike and the fighters wearing the shirt and think it was a cheesy marketing gimmick for selling shirts to Bro's who are all out of TapouT gear. Boy was I wrong. I came across this book on Amazon and thought I would read the sample for the Kindle edition, after a couple of pages I was hooked. I'm not a reader at all, but I found it hard to put this book down, Mike does a great job of injecting stories from his past, that you can relate to, and some really great quotes, that are truly inspirational, into a book that teaches the reader that, not only is it possible to change the way you think about food and dieting, but you can also "Live" while on it. You don't have to be miserable that you are missing out on certain foods or eating only one food group, you can enjoy what you are eating, it will taste great, and you can move forward with the confidence that you are putting quality calories into your body. The book is an easy read and doesn't overwhelm the reader with scientific terms and more than anything it is very relatable, Mike Dolce is Mike Dolce, but you can see that he started as a regular Joe, he gives you the tools and the lessons to go forward and be proactive in your own search for what you are looking for, whether you're an athlete, or just want to live healthier, it's all here, Mike lays out the theory behind truly Living Lean. After reading this book I would highly recommend it to anyone, you don't have to break your head searching for the food he highlights, you probably have it in your pantry now, you can make it yourself, with the easy to follow instructions, and it will not only taste great but you can take the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing the best for you. There are no gimmicks here, just a man trying to do his part to spread the word on Living Lean, and I for one, finally weighing under 200 lbs., am happy that Mike decided to put this book together, and if you buy a copy you will be as well.

When you want to eat healthy and you just don't have time for complicated this is the place to go
I originally read Living Lean to gain some credibility with my trainer - he's an MMA fighter and Dolce is the gold standard for nutritional knowledge in that sport. My first impression was that Dolce captures 85% of the most advanced nutritional thinking in a deceptively simple package.I've worked as an RD's assistant in a hospital, worked with holistic health coaches, and did tremendous amounts of personal research on nutrition. Up until my trainer recommended Dolce, I thought that the most advanced thinking about nutrition came from Dr. Junger (Clean) and Dr. Mark Smith (The Good Living Doc). What Dolce does that the other experts don't do is he presents the information in digestible chunks. In addition to the books he has written, he does regular podcasts where he provides nutritional information along with a healthy dose of positivity.I've found that when my life gets crazy busy it's easier to follow the Dolce Diet principles than it is to reach for convenience foods. This is a lifestyle change that is doable. It also gets results.

Obvious, but likely very effective.
I bought and read The Dolce Diet on my Kindle last night. Dolce's book makes for an extremely quick read which is great for readers that just want to get down to business. Mike ascribes to a simple methodology that we all know works: exercise and clean eating. I have no doubts that the exercise routines and meal plans herein will result in quick weight-loss and improved fitness. That, if anything, is the real value of this book. Everyone wants results now. Most of us that are out of shape need the results to come quickly in order to reinforce the value of the "sacrifice" you make to get there and to keep you on the straight and narrow path.I don't know how sustainable Mike's plan is over the long term as it doesn't seek to give you an understanding of nutrition but rather, like a trainer, tells you exactly what to do and when. It is for that reason I believe Joel Furhman's Eat to Live is a well-suited companion to Mike's nutrition and exercise plan. For those not familiar with Eat to Live, it gets into the science of nutrition, supplies a number of recipes and more of a roadmap to eating healthfully for a lifetime (during some of which you will likely not be whipping yourself into shape with Mike's plan). The Dolce Diet is a worthwhile read with a plan that looks like it works. I'm going to follow it to the letter for the next month and update this review at that time.

mucho ruido y pocas nueces

Living Lean is the Real Deal!
I purchased 3 Weeks to Shredded and Living Lean a couple months ago. I was never one into fitness or eating healthy whatsoever. Both books are amazing with GREAT recipes, workouts, meal plans, grocery lists, motivational quotes and a great inspiring story from Mike Dolce himself about him growing up and what got him into this line of work. He's a guy through hard work, dedication has become one of the BEST strength and conditioning coaches and nutritionists. This book works for everyone, I wasn't an athlete whatsoever but followed the plans and just from eating the meals and following the plan provided in the book I lost weight and had a LARGE increase in energy. I would recommend this to anyone looking to shape up, lose pounds or even bulk up. There's a reason that top athletes recruit Dolce. There are proven success stories in this book that are extremely motivational. Better yet some are on twitter that have lost 150+lbs through Dolce and Mike himself even takes time to answer questions. All In all this is a great buy, great book. The energy increase is worth it alone but when the pounds start melting off its a great feeling. Its beautiful because its not a diet its a lifestyle change that works for anyone from vegans to gluten free. So if you want to eat lots of tasty food while STILL losing weight, you MUST pick up this book.

Living Lean - Mike D the man!
I'm a huge MMA Fan and so I wanted to try out Mike D. 3 weeks to get shredded. It's a short book but got some nice and good ideas. I followed his own experience and did my own 3weeks. It worked out pretty well, but everybody who thinks this will be like a "diet", is wrong.I'm also a top athlete and just tried to make some weight in a very short period but still eat healthy. All in all a nice work! Cheers from Germany.
