Nice but not very functional
I was very excited to try these out because I spend a lot of time for classes taking notes, and I thought transparent sticky notes would be a quick/easy way to add things and revise as I went. They are good at sticking to the paper and being transparent... and that's about it. They are terrible to write on. I wrote with pencil, ink/calligraphy, ballpoint and highlighter. The smudge test at the end of each word was done after about 1 minute of dry time. All smudged. Since they are marketed as waterproof, I would understand if only pencil and ballpoint worked, or even just pencil. But all of them seem to smudge badly. Not ideal for taking notes.I will say that they stick very well, are fairly waterproof, and you do get quite a few of them for the price.EDIT: I did find that it worked alright with larger ball pointed pens. My Medium Pilot Acroball worked easily enough with these and dried without smudging.

Hard to write on, easy to smear.
This seems like such a great idea and I hope some company succeeds at manufacturing them, but I tried writing on it with: roller-ball, pencil, liquid ink, and ball-point ink. The latter wouldn't even leave any ink on the paper, the others would but you can smear them with a very, very light touch. An ultra fine point permanent ink pen with no zylene was the only candidate that left a clear word, and didn't smear. Just to be thorough, I even tried with a fountain pen to find that again, little ink goes down and what does is smeared easily. This was with Waterman ink and a real fountain pen, not ink cartridges, but I give up! So, if you have an ultra fine point permanent ink no zylene type pen you can leave a note on these, but I'd hoped to be able to use them with pencil.

They work really well!
I love these! Was worried after reading some reviews about them smudging, but that wasn't the case for me. I used a regular ball point pen, and sarasa dry in .o7 on them with no issue. Just waved it to let it dry a moment and popped it where I need them to go. They are not completely clear but slightly frosted. This isn't a big issue as I can't really tell when they are on paper, walls, doors, etc. except for a slight shadowing and a square. I was really surprised to have gotten what I wanted for this price. These things are excellent.

More work than needed.
Honestly was expecting a paper/parchment paper type of adhesive pad, but this is made of a thin plastic with some glue. Adhesive is good and repositionable, but the glue on the pad itself needs to be cleaned by rubbing your finger on it before writing.

Great for taking short notes in a book
I was happy to find these post its when I was unable to find margin length post it notes for a textbook. I don't like to write in my books and have used margin notes in the past. They are the perfect sheerness and thickness is perfect. I can easily see through the notes and they can easily be replaced because the adhesion is perfect. The actual part of the note you can write on is limited to the space below the adhesive part of the note. Not the sticky side, but the side you would write on. The note loses about 1/3 of the writing space because of this issue. These were an adequate substitute, but I will continue looking for something else.

Better with oil based market
Best use with oil based market. If use a ball point pen the ink spread.

Sticky
I liked them because they are clear but one I used them, unless you use a bright color ink, it won’t be noticed.. so prepare for that. Seems to stick very well...

Use a thin sharpie marker
These are amazing. I read reviews about pens - just don't use a pen. Saved me through presentations, school, and tests.

it's okay
works best with pencil... it would probably work in pen if you wait for it to dry.
