took a while….
This ended up being a great story but it took a while for me to get into it. Not a fan of history but it was put together well.

A very satisfying read.
I first read about this abandoned Paris apartment in the book, "The Paris Time Capsule" which was based on the true story of a Parisian woman who was being persecuted by the Nazis during WWII. She fled Paris leaving behind the apartment and a trove of treasures. So I wasn't sure quite what to expect from this book.I loved it. This book tells of a young girl, Alice, who inherits an apartment in Paris that no one knew existed. The apartment is filled with its own treasures and secrets. The book is filled with history, rich detail, heartbreak, joy, sadness and redemption. It is a dual time line told in the voices of the Alice and her great Aunt Adalyn.Without giving too much away, there is quite a lot going on in Alice's life in the present day including a truly lovely romance. In fact there's more than one romance in the book. But there is true grit here as well when you read of the hardships Parisians suffered during the occupation and what they did to survive. We've all read about the French resistance and this book shines a light on their bravery. Do not pass this one up.

Perfect for Fans of Code Name Verity
I loved this book! I’ve always been interested in stories of the French Resistance during WWII, but the contemporary counterpart to the historical storyline had just as much to offer. Now: Sixteen-year-old Alice is visiting Paris for the summer with her parents after the death of her beloved grandmother, who left Alice a secret apartment. The apartment itself is a time capsule from Alice’s grandmother’s childhood during WWII, and Alice discovers her great aunt’s journal and follows it down a rabbit hole of family secrets. The more she uncovers about her family’s past, the more she is forced to face the issues of its present. Then: During the Nazi occupation of Paris, Adalyn (Alice’s great aunt), finds herself drawn into the French Resistance. As she delves deeper into her secret role, and leveraging her position as a socialite, she is forced to make more compromises and sacrifices with her relationships to those she loves most than she bargained. This book has so much to offer—espionage and first love and a very thoughtful portrayal of mental illness. If you loved Code Name Verity, pick this one up for a similar read with just as much heart.

Resistance
What an excellent read! The book pulled me in from the beginning to the end. The characters were alive and I followed right along with them. A grandmother died having never mentioning her sister. The story goes back and forth from present day to the Paris occupation. I cannot imagine living that terrible era. An apartment is left for Alice, the granddaughter. Information I found about Adalyn, the unspoken of sister. Alice researches to find out what happened to Adalyn after finding her diary. The story goes back and forth between Alice's research and Adalyn's work with the Resistance. The events are astounding and very realistic. I highly reccomend reading this book to anyone who reads WWII history. Although fictional, it is true to life of it's history. This book will remain in my memory for a long time to come. Definately in the top of my favorites.

Wonderful historical fiction!
This is an amazing book. It has suspense, romance, and history, all wrapped in a story that speaks to the importance of family. The author is masterful in how she darts in and out of the present to the past and back again. Very engaging characters and a plot you'll find yourself immersed in from the first page. The ending is extremely satisfying. I truly forgot this was a YA book until I read some of the information at the back of the book.

A compelling read
Heartbreaking, beautiful, breathtaking, and compelling are all words that can and should be used to describe this novel. The Paper Girl of Paris sweeps you back in time to an occupied Paris and you feel as if you are there living it with the characters. An absolute must-read that you will not put down once you start it until you've reached the final page and then you will feel compelled to pass it on to your friends and family so they too can read it.

Great historical fiction
Wow! What an awesome debut novel! If you enjoy historical fiction like I do, this is a terrific story. Set in Paris, with wonderful details, the author gives us deeper insight about occupied France (by the Germans) during WWII and the French Resistance. Taking the reader back and forth between present day and past, through the eyes of teenagers, is so engaging and emotional. I was particularly invested in the characters from the past but enjoyed the contrast with the present day characters. The writing is rich, suspenseful and also romantic. I had a hard time putting this book down and highly recommend it to teens and adults alike.
