decent for boosting aux volume
I was hoping this would boost my AUX input in my car. It does but with some distortion... I am happy I tried this beginner version and will most likely purchase the upgraded version now that I know it actually works. Definitely was worth the $8 and product research.

took some modification
I like it, but it took a bit. This device uses quadruple-A batteries. nobody has those. But... if you take apart a 9V battery, its actually 6 AAAA batteries all soldered together. Easy and cheap way to get those special batteries. However, what I finally ended up doing is buying a $2 AA battery holder from Radio Shack, solder the wires into the device, and then epoxy the battery holder to the back of the boostaroo. I now use cheap, easy-to-find AA batteries that last 10X longer.

Quick volume, somewhat rare batteries
Quick and easy way to add volume. The only down size is the AAAA batteries. These are sometimes not easy to find in local stores.Would prefer 1 AAA or 1 AA with internal voltage boost circuit as many LED flashlights have implemented.

(I don't like this way of turning it off) For the rest
Amplifies very clean and loud. The sound source has to be disconnected to turn it off. (I don't like this way of turning it off) For the rest, it met my expectations.

If I knew better I would have only paid $5 for something like ...
This barely amplifies the sound unlike what it says. When plugged in, it distorts music strangely. I bought it mainly for podcasts in my car since my aux doesn't get too loud, but the difference in sound is hardly noticed. If I knew better I would have only paid $5 for something like this....
