Wishmaster (Vestron) [Blu-ray] [2017]

WISHMASTER is a fun gorefest featuring a phenomenal all star horror cast. I wish this wasn't a double sided DVD because double sided DVDs get scratched easily. Thank God that this DVD hasn't been scratched yet. Now to the cast and plot. WISHMASTER stars Andrew Divoff as The Wishmaster, Tammy Lauren as Alex Amberson, Robert "Freddy Krueger" Englund as Raymond Beaumont, Ricco Ross as Lt. Nathanson, Chris Lemmon as Nick Merrit, Tony "Candyman" Todd as Johnny, Jenny O'Hara as Wendy and Kane "Jason Voorhees" Hodder as Merrit's Guard. The main reason why the Wishmaster gets loose is because Raymond Beaumont's men at the harbor accidently spill coffee all over the controls to the crane lifting the box in which the Wishmaster is trapped. The box shatters and Beaumont discovers a red jewel and his friend Alex gets her hands on it. Alex accidently unleashes the Wishmaster and now anyone who makes a wish loses their soul to the Wishmaster. This film has great gore created by Robert Kurtzman, Greg Nicotero and Howard Berger, great cast, great crew and great script. I give this film a 5 out of 5 star rating.

th horror scenes were great

I first found came across Wishmaster a year ago on Fearnet and at first site said "meh, sounds like a dumb movie", but of course the movie came calling my name and I had to give it a watch. While Wishmaster isn't necessarily a legitimate horror film, it doesn't take away from the fact that it's a great film. Wishmaster tells the story of an ancient genie-like Djinn who is condemned to a fire red opal stone and is only released when awakened by a person who takes possession of the stone. The possessor is then given 3 wishes by the Djinn, where after the third wish; all other Djinns in the underworld will be free to take over the world.In 1127 AD Persia, an evil, demonic Djinn is wreaking havoc upon a Persian emperor and his citizens, who was summoned by the emperor and his granted 3 wishes. As the emperor prepares to make his third and final wish, that would open the gateway between the worlds and unleash the Djinn race to take over the world, he's stopped by a sorcerer who possesses a fire opal and sucks the Djinn inside of it, where he remains captured.In 1997 America, the fire opal is unveiled after a freak accident occurs at a ship loading dock. The fire opal is taken to a local examination center, where it's examined upon by Alexandra Amberson; a lab examiner and coach of a middle school girl's basketball team. Whilst studying the stone late one night, she accidentally awakens the Djinn and he later escapes the stone and kills her lab partner/love interest. Wishmaster goes on to take human form under the name Nathaniel Demerest. While on the search for Alexandra, Wishmaster grants wishes to several people he comes across---wishes which usually have some sort of a demented, fatal twist to it. As Wishmaster comes closer and closer to confronting Alexandra, Alexandra will have to come to terms with her ugly fate and face the evil Djinn himself; Wishmaster.Overall: A really great movie, despite what negative critics may and will say about it. Although the movie as a whole may come off as being somewhat cheesy, it's a 90s film, which makes it okay and is good for its time. In an interesting note, several horror movie icons make cameo appearances in this movie. Among the horror icons are Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees), Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger), and Tony Todd (Candyman). Andrew Divoff's performance in Wishmaster is absolutely immaculate. Playing the evil villain in this film comes so naturally to him, he plays a believable part as the sadistic genie that is Wishmaster. While I wouldn't count Wishmaster as being a legitimate horror movie, that doesn't mean it's not great. There are quite a bit of gory kills in the movie and the acting is pretty superb. If you're contemplating about whether or not you should watch Wishmaster, I'll answer it for you; YES!

A WOMAN [TAMMY LAUREN] ACCIDENTALLY FREES AN EVIL GENIE [ANDREW DIVOFF] FROM SOME KINDA JEWEL. GRANTING WISHES THAT BACKFIRE, THE GIRL MUST NOW FIND A WAY TO PUT THE GENIE BACK IN HIS JEWEL. HAS SOME COOL MURDER SEQUENCES, BUT, IT'S JUST NOT AS GOOD AS IT COULD'VE BEEN. FILLED WITH GORE AND OVER-THE-TOP HORROR VIOLENCE. HORROR FANS SHOULD LIKE THIS, BUT, IF YOU'RE LOOKING TO SEE A REALLY GOOD HORROR MOVIE, THIS MIGHT NOT BE WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR. HAS A REALLY GOOD MOTORHEAD SONG AT THE END CREDITS. FOLLOWED BY THREE DIRECT-TO-VIDEO SEQUELS.

purchased this for my frined who loves scary movies. She loves the movie. The movie arrived in excellent condition and I would order again from this seller.

Well this weeks pick was more of an accident then a plan of attack. We were all set to watch Jack Frost 2 when something happened that was beyond our control. Not sure if it was our current state or just the dvd acting up but it would only play the trailer over and over again. As we stood there for about 15 minutes trying to figure it out we got so bugged out that on demand became the only option. We searched through the menu until we came across some 90's horror b which is pretty much a no brainer.Our feature kicks off with Alexandra Amberson as she recieves a mysterious stone to evaluate for an upcoming action. Being puzzled by what it is she passes it off to her pal to do analysis on it. As he's doing some b lazer test on the stone it breaks open releasing Djin aka the Wishmaster and all hell breaks loose. Once loose he preys on people in desperate need of a wish. Once they commit to trade the wish for their soul he grants it, only adds his twist to make the wish a disaster. Each person gives up their soul which makes Wishmaster stronger and stronger. Once he's about to max out on his power Alexandra figures out the perfect wish to bring him down and send him back into the ruby until they could scrounge up enough change to make the sequal.So in a pinch we were very happy to come across Wishmaster. It had all the fine elements of a 90's b horror which is all we need for some enjoyment. It combined just the right amount of awful acting, cheap effects, and that unmistakable 90's b charm for a full 5 star effort. In fact we will be adding the other 4 Wishmaster flicks to Sid's must see list.

Tyckte när jag va yngre att denna va en av dom bättre filmerna där ute, synd att jag inte kan säga detsamma idag tyvärr. En medioker action thriller med vissa bra och vissa sämre effekter. Skådespeleriet rätt överdrivet, lite b av vissa. Annars bra bild och ljud på denna Steelbook. Men tyvärr va Steelbooken snyggare än filmen även denna gång.
