Calcutta Kolkata Raghu Rai Collectors EDN

This is to add to my personal collection of photography books. Raghu Rai is such an eminent photographer that I need not say anything more about him. More so, Calcutta is a rich visual storehouse which needs to be preserved by photographers for the posterity, as parts of it have been demolished and replaced with stereotyped apartment houses and malls and other areas too may follow the same path. I had an eye to purchase the original book, but I find that this is a new edition. My only complaint is that some evocative pictures of the red light area Sonagachhi, which were in the previous edition in all probability, have been omitted here, probably to cater to the prudishness of the present political atmosphere. Of course, I have those pictures in my online collection.

Loved it. Print quality is superb. However one needs to know the time period of this Kolkata depicted which is much more archaic than the present day Kolkata we live in and proud say our home.
