No directions but if you are handy with putting things together you will not have a issue like me ~
I have no clue how to put this together. It doesn't come with directions on how to attach the two awnings. Very unhappy that it doesn't come with directions or screws for the awnings considering the price I paid for it. Also it clearly states the awning comes attached but is shipped upside down.... All you have to do it unscrew it and attached the correct side which is a bald face lie. It is shipped in the box unattached, no screws or directions. I did attach it but made some errors since I am not a DIY person. I did have some issues with it but my feral cats LOVE this unit and the issue's I had were minor. What is important that once put together, it does it job giving the ferral cats shelter. I have it under my porch and much to my surprise 2 cats fit into it with ease.UPDATE:Ok....screws did come but I through them out in error since they were in the catnip. I contacted to company direclty and they were super sweet about helping me out when I decided to order another unit direclty through them. They totally went out of there way to help me! Bottom line, It is a good unit and the cats do like it. I plan to buy another one to stick under the porch for them since I have 8 in my colony.

Simple, to the point and perfect.
Super customer service Scott, thanks so much! I just purchased this and put it together in about 15 min (I'm super slow so for the normal person it would take probably 5). It came just as described and was easy to put together. It is simple and I have no doubt will do it's job. I put a heater in mine just because I am up north and we routinely get sub zero temps. I really liked the velcro on the doors and awnings because I can keep the doors up until the cats get used to it. I had trouble getting my house cats out of it after putting it together before transferring it to my deck. So if that is any indication, I think outdoor cats will love it. I'll just have to find the right spot for it. It is simple, but will do the job. I can just put it out and forget it. My parents have the heated cat barn made by the same company and have left it on a covered porch for two winters and it is like new. Also I had questions about which one to get and the owner of the company was super helpful. I'd definitely purchase it again (an probably will because now my house will be the place to come for the ferals in the neighborhood.

Totally thought I was taking a gamble despite the reviews but...
This product was awesome. We bought it for a kitty that had been abandoned by someone in our apartment. We already have two cats in a small apartment so there was no way we could bring him in doors. However, we wanted to help him. This would be a lot of money wasted if the cat wouldn't use it. However, the moment I brought it home and tried to open it indoors my two cats were acting CRAZY trying to get at it. We had to lock them in different rooms while we set it up. Set up is minimal but with two nosy faces pushing in it was a bit taxing on our patience. The day we put it out, I mean the day we put it out, "Grey Kitty" took to it. We didnt see it but the next morning there was a bowl shaped impression in the straw. The next morning I saw his face in the door. Now he stays there until we bring him breakfast in the morning. He has totally moved to our house and spends his days outside our back door. Now when we have to shut the door on his little face we know he just goes and climbs into his cozy house instead of having to curl up in some dirt and leaves. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT and say...don't worry about taking the gamble!

This is a great product.
We really like this cathouse. Frankie, the cat we got it for stays in it a lot. It got him through the winter and now we have it in a shady spot for shelter in the summer. We don't have harsh winters but do get a lot of wind and some light snow. Frankie was an inside cat but is a habitual marker, so we put him and his house right outside the back door. It's working out fine. My only wish would be that the straw didn't come out of the house so easily. Frankie is usually covered in it and we sweep up straw from outside the back door often. Maybe there's no way around that because it's good bedding. It might have something to do with our dry weather, which produces static electricity. This may not be an issue in more humid areas. Anyway, we love the product. Would buy it again. It was shipping promptly and required no assembly.

Really flimsy
After opening the box and pulling this out, I can't for the life of me figure out why it's so expensive . . . The thing came with not enough straw to cover the bottom completely and it's so lightweight and flimsy it seems like it wouldn't be much use. I also can't seem to find a way to attach the rain covers, which are just long pieces of plastic with velcro stapled to them. There was no corresponding velcro on the actual tube. I must be missing something but it came with no directions and it isn't obvious. Anyway, I can't say whether or not feral cats will use it, but I was really disappointed with how fli. I don't think it will be that much use in a MN winter. I will say this--it definitely has catnip! My cats were all over it. They never went inside but they rubbed all over it and got crazy. :)I just hope it will actually be useful.

II stand corrected
I had originally left a negative review on this item, however, that was truly not fair to the manufacturer, as I didn't realize how well insulated this unit is, & the rationale behind it's creation. I already have a feral cat investigating it, & the unit fits nicely up against the house, where it gets additional protection from the wind. After reading the manufacturer's email, I realize there is great pride taken in this product & it's purpose has been well thought out.

Cute house
I think the feral cathouse is cute and would be a great shelter. My one feral cat has refused to use it, possibly because it is too much like the trap we had caught her with. However, I do plan on trying it out with our foster kittens.UPDATE: Now that we are having wet, cooler weather, our resident feral cat is using the shelter. I know its not the only place she shelters, but its nice seeing her come out of the door every morning for breakfast.
