Review The Product. Not The Artist. Spoiler… It’s grand!
There are no flaws with this product. It didn’t have any damage, the packaging was sealed properly. Perfect condition.Small note: to anyone who reviews this Album. Remember, you’re not reviewing the artist or the material. If someone is buying a physical copy of music, they already have made their minds up about wether or not they like said artist. I know you want your time to shine as an amateur music critic, but this is neither the time, nor the place. Therefore any review you may encounter of this nature is invalid.Have a Grand Day!

A rambling album, a singer with an incredible voice & sumptuous arrangements but needs editing
This is an album that garnered lots of critical rave reviews in best albums of 2020 end of year polls. Apparently originally released as 2 separate mini albums, then combined here onto a single CD of 20 tracks clocking in at over 65 minutes. This guy has an incredible soulful voice, and very lush full on arrangements. Some of it does sound incredible. However, it is way too long and would have benefitted from some judicious pruning and editing down to an album of perhaps a dozen best tracks of no more than 40 minutes . Some of the material comes across as very self indulgent, abstract noodles, that quickly become irritating and not for repeated listening. This is a shame as having listened to the whole album 3 times, some of the lesser abstract elements definitely detract from the whole listening experience for me.It is all rather over the top, and some of the songs have too much going on in terms of full on instrumental arrangements. Some of the subject matter also seems fairly juvenile, small scale personal such as concern about managing to get the right grades at school on Virile, or the painful death of his 2 pet dogs poisoned when he was a boy on Two Dogs. Other times it is all getting more philosophical, trying to understand the bigger issues in his life, such as the tracks And So I Come To Isolation; and the closing track Before You Go. He is trying to find his way with words, but comes across as rather self important, all a bit too inflated and rather egotistical. The photos showing off his body in the CD booklet, some encompassed by nets, others of his fit body, again come across as rather narcissisitic. Overall lots of potential and promise, but for me somewhat smothered by too cluttered arrangements and self obsession at times. If it had been kept simpler and more tightly produced then there is a potentially brilliant album within this material, but for me it gets swamped and lost along the way.He is a talented individual and he does have an amazing voice. He perhaps needs to be more restrained editing his own material to the best cuts, removing some of the more over the top dross. Perhaps teaming up with a Producer who gets the best out of him, to show that sometimes less in the mix will result in a more stunning and interesting end finished result would have been better. For me personally in conclusion, showing flashes of brilliance, but all rather overwhelmed by sometimes rather naive material and requiring more stripped down production with quality control and editing to bring out the best of him.

It’s Prince
I don’t know who wrote the pretentious rubbish in the above description but all they needed to say was:“If you like Prince, you’ll get along with this guy”

Horrendous
Please don’t waste your money on this CD . It sounds like Terence Trent D’Arby from the 1980s attempting to be Prince from the 1990s attempting to sound current . If by some weird chance this has encouraged you to give it a listen , I beg you don’t . Life is too short .
