Constantly breaking
I've bought this lead to use for undrawings and sketching. From my experience it is very brittle. Even with slight pressure the lead constantly snaps. Which is annoying because it draws so light on the paper I need to apply pressure to darken it up. Sometimes just putting it in the pencil it crumbles between my fingers. Also when I try to use other lead on top of it, the leads don't seem to mesh. I'm not sure what it is. Watercolors seek to work fine on top. It also does well with erasing. Probably won't buy this product again.

Good for Sketching but flimsy
Nice for light sketches, quite difficult to get into the pencil and it takes a second to find the right pressure on paper. Pigment is pretty damn light.I use one of those fancy metal mechanical pencils ( and the lead wouldn't fit through, so that was not epic. But its worked with most other that I've tried.

Fine. Break easily
The replacements work only if you’re writing or drawing lightly. Any kind of pressure and the lead snaps.

great quality
Great for artwork or just writing in different colors for fun.

Weak
This colorful lead was nice in theory but the lead was weak and broke easily. I used these leads in nursing school but couldn’t take good notes because the lead kept breaking. They also wrote very light. They were however good for lightly shading in doodles to accompany my notes.

Fine...but not great.
I ordered these colorful lead refills about 6 months ago, as I love using my Paper Mate Colorful Mechanical Pencils in my classroom. I have used a few of the colors with no problems. I went to add some more lead to my orange pencil and the orange lead just scratched my paper without even leaving any writing. I tried all of the different colors then to check and most other work fine. The red lead was very light and all of the lead breaks fairly easily. Overall, they work fine. They aren't as good as the original lead that came with my colored pencils.

So Brittle I Can’t Even Press Down Without Lead Breaking
I was so excited when I found these, because they match the colors exactly for my “Paper Mate Clear Point .7mm” colored lead pencils. I finished the two pieces of lead originally in my green pencil, and suddenly the lead started breaking and I thought it must’ve been something I was doing wrong. I pressed lighter, changed my position, got a new piece of lead, tried the second container of green in case the first container was a dud, and alas, nothing helped. In the first picture, you can see the distinction in color from when my original lead ended and when I switched to this lead. I wouldn’t mind the color difference much, but the issue is that it took me 3-5 times going over the mark I wanted to make to get that light green color to show up, whereas the original green is just one go-through and is much more visible. The second picture shows how many times I attempted to make a line and the lead just broke entirely. I had pieces all over me that I had to keep picking up, just from trying to make one line. I tried writing softer, but I can’t see it if I do that. Even when I avoid breaking the lead (which is a feat) and can go over a line 3-5 times to manage to make a visible mark, the lead itself has a roughness to it rather than the smooth glide of the original lead in the Paper Mate pencil. I was so excited about this find, but unfortunately it was an absolute bust and I urge you to stay away from these and find something else! But the Paper Mate pencils are great!
