Trashy, but mostly entertaining
What can I say about this book? It was strange, trashy, interesting, stupid, frustrating, exciting, disheartening, relatable, un-relatable, appalling, amusing, disappointing, lewd, and fun. All in one short book that you could probably read in a single sitting if you were so inclined. I can't recommend it, because of all the aforementioned negative adjectives...but I also wouldn't advise against it, because of the positive. I hate the ending. And I hate hating endings. At least it had art as a prominent theme in the novel, that's a plus. The writing was neither good nor bad—it merely got the job done. I'll give it three stars. Moving on...

This was a fun read, as any ex art major can tell you, art school brings with it the most colorful personalities and bizarre situations. In each character, I could recall a similar person. Characters were beautifully rendered (wow, now that it so very art school) and whether they pissed you off or you heart ached for them, they felt very real. I am hoping this book does not get stuck in some silly chick lit category as it is so much better than the vast majority of those. Extremely visual, would make for great movie or preminum TV series in the right hands.

It was good...
...but disappointing (in the way only truly honest writing can be). Paulina is cold, and Fran is a hapless mess; when the two collide, the reader is eager for more...but (also) reluctant to turn the page. The story was simple (but entertaining), and the writing somewhat detached. If you're interested in sapphic interludes, the relentless and nauseating folly of collegiate promiscuity, or simply want to vicariously experience post-collegiate dysphoria...this book is for you!

An okay read.
I enjoyed the novel but did find the story line to be quite boring and slow at times.

Tease of a book
Enjoyed this odd love dance of Fran and Paulina but unsatisfied with the end. Am I just left to imagine what may be? Was? Is? Kind of a tease of a book.

Smart and Beautiful
This is such a good book. No wonder James Franco loves it. (I found it after he included it in his collection of favorite books on display at the Arclight in Hollywood.) The only reason it doesn't have more 5 star reviews is because the kind of people who would love it aren't the kind of people who write (or probably read) Amazon reviews. I wish everybody wrote like this author.

Not for me
I was so excited to read this, especially after listening to the book riot review but Glaser makes it difficult Paulina, her lead character is horrible. I thought this was going to be a powerful story about female connection through love and friendship. I wanted to be rooting for the characters not feeling sorry for them or comp, lately despising them. Paulina is such a disgusting, unsympathetic human being.I kept on reading, waiting for something redeemable that never came.

Great read. Interesting characters and story
I really enjoyed this book, I couldn't put it down. The characters are intreguing and the story line is quite interesting. Not sure it puts us art grads in a good light though! I highly recommend it for some light reading, not to be taken too seriously.

Read it for book club, and found every character in it completely unlikeable. The author also took part in book club online, and apparently that was her intention, so I guess that's fair enough and she succeeded! It just felt like as soon as it actually started to build to something and sucked me in, it ended.

Four Stars
Pretty good, but not a patch on her short stories.

Dreary
Goodness-what dreary, cynical, uncreative and unattractive characters. I found this novel almost unreadable in its solipsism. The lack of interest in examining their lives matched the seeming lack of interest by he author in exploring these young women. If this is what the struggle for women has resulted in then I am left feeling sad.
