Messermeister 3-Piece Pumpkin Carving Set - Includes Scraper, Sawtooth Carver & Etching Tool - AISI420 Stainless Steel & Soft-Grip Handle

Purchased these as I recognized the name brand and upon first impression they look really well made. Set is made in China, not like some of the other Messermeister stuff, but it makes sense considering it's a specialty set. Anyway, this is probably the best, basic pumpkin carving set you can buy. Once we carve our first pumpkins I will try to report back.Post-pumpkin update: After using them, I would definitely recommend this set! The scraper was solid, and didn't deflect at all, and the saw was fantastic for the level of detail we needed. We didn't end up using the etching tool, but I'm pretty confident it'll perform just as well as the other two items.

I eat a lot of winter squash, and oh, how I dreaded the prep. One day I thought, "There has to be a squash scoop of some kind that would make this easier." So I went online to see what I could find. I ordered this tool. Boy, was I ever amazed! It makes my battles and victories with butternut and acorn squash a foregone conclusion! I'm done with prepping in seconds. I've also found this tool to be useful with summer melons. The handle grip is very comfortable. The scoop is heavy duty and the rounded teeth make short work of removing seeds and all those fibrous strings inside a squash that have the consistency of twine against your teeth if you don't get all of them out before baking. I honestly don't know how I lived without this scoop! Get one; you won't regret the purchase.

While the tools aren't anything special they do feel sturdy enough for the task at hand and it won't Bend like some of the cheaper models.

It seems like every year our family was buying the same cheap pumpkin carving set. The carving knife or spoon would inevitably break mid-use and be discarded well before Halloween. Being someone who appreciates higher quality goods that don't need to be discarded after use (buy it for life, if you will), I went on the hunt for a better option this year.This Messermeister set is exactly that - a higher quality option that will clearly last for years. It's the same quality as fine silverware or knives, and isn't designed to bend or break with use. I have confidence this will last our family for many seasons - and I appreciate that a company is willing to buck the trend and produce something of higher quality that will last.You won't regret buying this set vs buying that same tired plastic carving set every year at the Halloween store.

Wonderful for pumpkin carving

Can’t say enough good things about this set. After using the $4 sets for the last few years and getting frustrated, these are the best! The knife had the perfect tooth spacing and cut quickly and precisely. The scoop is better than anything else that I’ve ever used. The quality is awesome and I’m sure these will last long enough to pass down to one of my daughters when they have their own family!

Get this if you plan on carving pumpkins for years to come. The little saw works great - I have never carved out a design so quickly! The scoop is good for getting the seeds out, but still doesn't work great getting the stringy bits - I needed a pair of scissors to remove a lot of the stringy-ness which was a bit disappointing. Didn't try the etching tool.

After spending a lot of money over the years on cheap plastic tools that last a few hours at best, I was elated to discover this Messermeister set. They are as sturdy in the hand as they look in the pictures, and it made pumpkin carving a breeze.The value goes beyond the savings of never having to buy pumpkin tools ever again, as the tools have proven to be useful in the kitchen throughout the rest of the year. The box the tools arrives in has a handy list of other uses to get you started. Absolutely worth the investment!

These tools are definitely better than those they sell at the stores. Worth the money.
