Exceptional and exceptionally honest
As a fan since UFC1, I thought that I knew Ken Shamrock's story, but what I knew barely scratched the surface of the wild tale told so well in this book.Highest recommendation.

Best Book of the Year for fans of MMA and Pro Wrestling
This book is nothing short of tremendous. For the life of me, I cannot understand how Jonathan Snowden managed to construct such an unflinchingly honest book without being murdered by Ken Shamrock. I think Snowden is still a relatively young man, so I suppose there is still time. If you were every curious about the ugly underbelly of MMA and wrestling, this book stares it in the face and never blinks. I cannot imagine anyone walks away from this book with a positive impression of Ken Shamrock. Still, he is an absolutely fascinating and paradoxical figure that you cannot stop reading about. The only other book I can really compare this to is Tom Billington's Pure Dynamite, but that book is autobiographical and conveys a lack of self-awareness that would prevent the editing of its most salacious parts. In The World's Most Dangerous Man, Shamrock seems painfully aware of his shortcomings but absolutely dedicated to justifying them so that he can make some sense of his own life. Beyond its function as a profile of a fascinating man, the book serves as an important historical text in understanding the development of MMA. Shamrock is inextricably tied to the creation of MMA both in the US and Japan. In some ways, his story IS the story of the creation of MMA. Snowden does a tremendous job of separating fact from myth. And make no mistake about it, Ken Shamrock is 100% dedicated to propagating the myth of Ken Shamrock. That is one of the things that makes this book so intriguing. Why would a man who is so invested mythologizing himself allow an author to write a biography that lays Shamrock's many, MANY flaws out so plainly for the world to see? Beyond appealing to some vague notion that, "he is a complicated man," I have no good answer to that question. Hence my concern for Jonathan Snowden's future safety. Read it!

Compelling for any fans of MMA or wrestling
A great read on Ken Shamrock's wild life. It's no hagiography- in fact you come off thinking that Shamrock would have been pretty terrible to spend time with most of the time, but for a fan of the early days of MMA or the japanese shoot wrestling scene, it's really compelling and sheds light on a lot of myths surrounding Pancrase and the Lion's Den especially.

Eye-opening
I found this book to be a very good read. Most of all, it was rather enlightening - if you are aware of Shamrock's history at all up to this point, there is a wealth of new information to think about. Though the book was written with Shamrock's cooperation, author Snowden doesn't shy away from the more controversial parts of Ken's life & career, from shady Pancrase fights to serious drug & family issues. Lots of new details, often unpleasant ones, fill in many of the gaps that have plagued earlier versions of this very complex & human story. All I can really criticize are some misspellings & the fact that readers without at least a passing interest in Mixed Martial Arts or Professional Wrestling may have a hard time understanding some of what is discussed. Worth a read!

Great Read
Finally finished "Shamrock," and it was well worth the time and commitment.Following the evolution of this book from a Bleacher Report article into a full-length biography, I was excited to read the book. It lived up to all the expectations and hype. There are great stories from the ring and cage, and some more from the road and strip club. Those are the vignettes I ordered the book for, and "Shamrock" delivered. These best endorsement I can give it is to buy a second copy as a gift for a friend, which is what I'm going to do right now.If you're a fan of the UFC, MMA, WWE, and Japanese wrestling, then you should check this book out for sure.

Fantastic Sports Bio
After reading Snowden's excellent book, I really got the sense that Shamrock is a man out of time. This is a dude who would have fit right in in the Roman Colosseum as a gladiator. Truly fascinating, wild life. Snowden does a great job evoking time and place; you feel like a fly on the wall in a fraternity that civilians are not invited into. Excellent book whether you're into wrestling, MMA, or just mad stories about unique people doing crazy stuff. Highly recommended.

Lots of grammatical errors
I did like the book but the Kindle version has a lot of grammatical errors. I'm not used to that in a published book. It was almost like it wasn't fully edited. Still a good read. Would have been 5 stars but the errors are pretty inexcusable in a professionally published book.

No surprise, it's a very good book
As the title states, for anyone who grew up in the 90s, watched pro-wrestling and is a combat sports fan, this is a fun, fun read. Shamrock, in essence, is the reason I, and so many others, watch and follow MMA. I enjoyed how Jon crafts the book. I mean, he's an author after all, and a pro-wrestling/MMA fan. Win, winHoping for another future "must-read" from JESnowden! ... Jackson/Wink MMA

Brilliant and essiential
If your even just a passing fan in ken shamrock, mm a or pro wrestling, then this book is simply unmissable. A riveting look at one of the true pioneers in combat sports, this book not only tells shamrock s incredible story but also details the rise of mixed martial arts and the influence it would have on pro wrestling during the attitude era. Shamrock is honest here and nothing is held back. I can't recommend it enough.

Phenomenal book that doesn't shy away from a lot of the negatives in Shamrocks life. More than highly recommended reading this book.
