Red Allover Cotton Eyelet Embroider Fabric 44" by The Yard

I bought this material to use in making a regency day dress, and it is really beautiful, but it is not 44 inches wide, as advertised. One reason I chose this material was because I expected it to be just wide enough to use as the skirt of my dress. Unfortunately, after I had already cut the bodice, I discovered that the material was not really 44 inches wide. In fact, it is only 41 inches wide at the part where I measured. Also, when we folded the material in half to cut one piece on the fold, we found we could not get it perfectly straight, for when we lined up one scalloped edge, the opposite side would be off by half an inch or so. There is something strange going on with this material. I'll deal with it, but it's going to make sewing the dress together a bit more of a challenge than necessary. That said, this material would likely make beautiful curtains.
