This book was recommended by Erin from Floret Flower Farm. It has simple and smart recommendations for growing dahlias and some great recipes mixed in. Her vases are stunning and look even better with her beautiful flowers. The book has a casual and relaxed layout and it gives you the sense of living life as a creative person. I like her sensible approach to life and her artwork. Nothing too extreme and remembering to be kind to yourself.I tried her date nut bread and it’s very delicious. I’m hoping to make the almond cake next.

I don't know whether to feel inspired by this author's mastery of cooking and gardening and pottery and writing or whether I should just open a vein because my talents fall so miserably short of hers. I rather do enjoy the gorgeous photos, and the recipes seem like something I would like to make. It just goes to show that no matter how good I think my flower arrangements are, they will never be as good as her, but at least I can dream when I read this book.

This is a gorgeous book, filled with beauty and inspiration. Frances's honesty and directness show that hard work and perseverance are key components to creativity. Her growth and development over the years and decades exploring her art give hope to those of us who want to begin to explore how we can fit creative engagement in our own lives. We're all beginners at something. That shouldn't stop us from trying to infuse our lives with beauty on whatever front makes sense in our own lives. Frances shows us her path. It's emboldening for me to try to figure out mine!

I don’t recall who or what lead me to this sparkling gem. I really enjoyed the genuine pleasure of wondering what’s next. I knew I was hooked when Frances included some of her favorite recipes.Thank you Frances for helping show us how you run your creative business and life. I plan to borrow and use your ideas. This book is spectacular! Full of gorgeous photographs showing every stage of an artist's process, as well as the myriad of places she draws inspiration from. This portrait of the creative world Frances Palmer has created is so rich and comprehensive- we get to see the beautiful pots she makes (from start to finish), filled with her gorgeous floral arrangements, made with flowers she grows in her gardens, captured by her own lens- A true renaissance woman! Peppered throughout are her essential recipes. Personal, simple and just the kind of food i feel like eating right now.

During the last 7 months of Covid I have been awaiting my copy of Frances Palmer's Life in the Studio and it came yesterday! A treasure! It is so packed with such beauty and wisdom and a certain kind of hope - so badly needed. The interconnectedness of a the parts, the studio, the kilns, the garden, the kitchen, the hives, the tennis court dahlias! The life she shares is a rich weave and a tonic for this times. Thank you for showing us this exquisite practice!

I love the book and had waited to order, as a gift to myself. It arrived with several other items in the badly smashed Amazon box. UPS was at fault for the condition of the box however, I wished the book had been wrapped in plastic or paper to something to protect the overall condition of the book and it's beautiful book jacket. I'll tape it up and move on, but books should be treated better.

I am not a ceramic artist -- however I bought this book because I just loved the photos, ideas, flowers, recipes and just overall beauty of the book -- I love how it is written you feel like you are having a cup of tea with the author and hearing all about her creative process and life which is just wonderful and inspiring!

A beautiful book full of inspiration

It is lovely to look at but not much for information. There are recipes that one can find online which makes me think the author is looking for fillers. I wonder if the publisher is looking to fill pages. Not worth the money.
