I wanted to surprise my dad that know how to speak Tunisian Arabic by learning the language and to have a conversation with him. I'm still learning but I can already say this book was a good choice! I recommed!

The pronunciation guide and methodology are fine, but the actually vocabulary is not helpful for someone visiting Tunisia for a short time and wanting to communicate graciously with a minimal vocabulary. Much of the vocabulary are not words that would often be used in essential conversations between people new to Tunisia and Tunisians. I highlighted the phrases that I would find helpful for essential communication, which is only about 10% of the phrases in the book. There are phrases I would have liked to learn but they are not included. I do like the English transliteration rather than trying to learn Arabic script.

I liked how easy it was to follow the author and his explanations.

The approach is fine. The choice of vocabulary is inspired. But two things hold it back from being of much use: no CD or sound track to teach correct pronunciation. No arabic script to show what your derja words actually look like. Too bad, because, with those additions, it would have been perfect.

I recommend this book if you ever plan to travel to Tunis. Very very good book.

Such a fun read! I enjoyed the way the material was presented and it helped me pick up some phrases right away. You will enjoy to be sure... :)

Excellent book give a good understanding and explains very well the things you need to know to help get to grips with the Tunisian language.
