Dragon harper
The dragon harper almost becomes the head of a form of M16. They all tend to become real and friends as you read this series. Thankyou

Great Read
Really enjoyed these additions to the series by Todd McCaffery, they have kept the essence of the Pern books while exploring different timelines in the history of Pern, with complex and well developed characters

Probably the most moving Perm story I have read
Humour, sadness, courage, fortitude, love, grief and mourning. They are all there in plenitude, along with strong characters and bold storylines, with joy in the finale. In all, a damned good read!

A Moving Tale
This book tells the tale of the great sickness that almost wiped out the population of Pern . We follow the journey of Kindan who arrives at the Harper Hall just as the sickness begins to take hold. Those who die include some of the main characters. The story moves well, except for a few passages which almost choke the narrative with lengthy explanations. I have read a great many "Pern" stories. I enjoyed this one. It returned to the style of the first books when Pern was established.

Dragon Harper - good but not quite there.
This was written by Todd McCaffrey and even though it still has the input and feel of Anne McCaffrey, his mother, I'm sorry to say that Todd's books are not as good as Anne's. The characters simply don't grab you. I was left very disconnected from the characters. I also found the plot terribly contrived - the various "eureka" moments the main character has seem to be quite obvious for the reader. And the characters just don't grow and evolve with the story, at least not in a believable manner. It has always been Anne McCaffrey's ability to create lovable, believable characters that has drawn me to her books. Perhaps in a few decades Todd's writing will be as good as his mother's but for now - no, sorry.Apart from that, the story of an epidemic on Pern has already been told, in a much more enjoyable way - I recommend a re-read of "Moreta".

The start of a Fantastic Read
Fantastic book, couldn't put it down, in fact read It in a night. As with every other Anne McCaffrey (Pern) title, I got totally into the fantasy and was actually there taking an active part in the story. It is a shame that it takes so long to write a story of this magnitude. I wish there were more authors of Anne and Todd's calibre. If you are new to these authors, take my advice and buy every single book they write or have written and you are in for a fantastic journey. I am off to re-read them all myself.
