Not your typical tree decorating ideas
First off, this book is not for you if you are looking for designer inspired tree decorating ideas, like the ones you see all over YouTube or in magazines and on Pinterest. It is the book for you if you are looking for unique ways to make your tree reflect your interests or to breathe new life into decorating that breaks from the norm. The author shows you how to use things you can find around your house to decorate your tree in your chosen theme. From souvenirs to jewelry to candy to pasta to utensils, the ideas covered run the gamut and will get you to think outside the box and repurpose items you already have lying around for use as ornaments and decorations for your tree. The author also shows you how to take utilitarian items like tinfoil or things you find at the hardware store and turn them into ornaments with a few simple steps. The sky's the limit, and the ideas you glean from this book will enable you to create a holiday tree that is uniquely yours. My only quibble with this book is that a lot of the trees pictured are rather sparsely decorated, but you can choose to decorate as fully or as sparsely as you like. It is your tree after all!

I may have several trees every Christmas!
This is a beautiful book full of ideas and projects. Whether you want to buy ornaments, re-purpose vintage or household items, create unusual garlands or make everything yourself, there's something in here for you. If you want a traditional tree or something more unusual, like the Rosemary shoots on the cover or a tree made from chicken wire, branches or plywood, then this is the book you've been looking for. Brown covers tree stands, tree types and the design fundamentals of decorating a tree. There are 24 different trees, each with their own chapter that includes a full shot of the tree, a full page spread of the trimmings laid out on a plain background and labeled, information on what to collect or buy and pages of step-by-step instructions for every handmade ornament. There are many, lovely close up shots of the details of each tree sprinkled throughout the book. This book has inspired me to look at everything as a possibility when it comes to Christmas trees. That's what I most love in craft books - good instructions but also the inspiration to do my own thing. This book has both.

I love the creativity this book inspires
I love the creativity this book inspires. While I may not deeply love every tree design the author included, there’s no denying she’ll broaden your horizons when it comes to decorating your own tree. Inspiration is everywhere. Carrie Brown includes collected items as well as many handmade decorations, and shows you how to alter things to your liking, and create cohesion without looking looking like your tree is trying too hard. Even her very heavily themed trees have a collected, homey, timeless look, without feeling dated and cliche. I bought this book for myself a year ago and read it cover to cover in an afternoon. I just pulled it out and read it again, and the inspirations are still fresh.

For a traditional Christmas maven this book is eye candy for trees you may never decorate.
Just got this today. Can’t put it down. Being a consummate ornament collector I could easily decorate 15 trees if not more. But now I will envision trees i may never decorate. What fun! And anyone who has a mixed group of children should look at this book. (Foster kids?) What a great group activity to make some of the decorations. But the book should not sit around a house full of children. Too many references to flammable things like candles and match stick ornaments. But for an older Christmas maven? This book is eye candy.

NEW ideas for Christmas trees and more!
I picked this book up at the library, and decided I had to have my own copy. It has some really neat, new ideas for trees & other holiday decorating. Most of it is quite contemporary, so it's not the same old, same old. Interesting uses for objects you wouldn't think of for a Christmas tree. Love it!!

Brand New Ideas
This Christmas book has both classic and brand new ideas for Trees. I am a Christmas craft book addict and this is bound to be one of my favorites.

SAVE YOUR MONEY!
Without a doubt the most unsophisticated, amateurish, juvenile craft book I've ever had the misfortune to purchase sight unseen. I am a crafter from way back. I love making things, but the contents of this book make it seem as if this author had a publishing deadline of a few days and desperately tried to think of what she could create out of the objects in her trashcan. A roughly 300 page book and there was absolutely nothing I would even consider spending my precious crafting time on. Unless one is searching for art projects for elementary school children, SAVE YOUR MONEY! It should receive zero stars, if there was such a thing.
