Southern Sandstone and the Sea Cliffs of South-East England: Climbers' Club Guides

Things can only get better
I've really only used the book for Harrisons and Bowles, and for the latter it is pretty good. For Harrisons however it is pretty shocking, and very difficult to navigate with as it only seems to have pictures for the most popular and 3 star routes. There a whole swathes of the rock which you have to guess what you are climbing - using only a little squiggle as of a birds eye view for guidance. That is spectacularly unhelpful.Fortunately the area is usually populated by experts who are willing to help and guide you to climbs that you might be hunting - but that has nothing to do with the book! It would also be good to have a height description for the climbs which is also lacking.Over all once compared to other climbing guides - I'm thinking particularly of the Roaches by the BMC or the Rock Fax for Dorset - then you realise what a shoddy affair you have here. Unfortunately it is the only book for Southern Sandstone out at the moment that I know of which covers the area so extensively (if only a little unhelpfully). Here's to hoping that the next guide out improves...

Three Stars
It's a bit old fashioned this guide. Not enough pictures.
