The wooden Ridgewood seat replaced a flimsy plastic seat. The heft, the quiet close and the simple installation are definite assets.

Very sturdy. Fits perfectly. Color matches. Was easy to install. Quiet close is a nice addition.

Comparison of three seats.I bought, installed, and compared three seats(1) Mayfair 1847SLOW 000 Kendall (wood) $37.99(2) KOHLER K-4636-0 Cachet Elongated White Toilet Seat, with Grip-Tight Bumpers (plastic) $37.49(3) KOHLER 20454-0 Ridgewood Toilet seat, White (wood) $39.79.The three seats were similar in size except that the hole in #2 was approx. 0.5 inch greater in both dimensions.All three looked fine, although I prefer the more solid look of the wood (#1, #3). However, I think that wood gets damaged more easily from cleaning products.The two wood seats also felt more solid and didn’t move or wiggle, whereas the plastic (#2) wiggled despite the “grip-tight bumpers”. I would not buy it again.Seat #1 has a “stay tight” system in which each attaching bolt has a plastic nut that rips off when it’s been sufficiently tightened. As far as I can see, this now means that one can’t loosen the seat for readjustment or removal. I didn’t like this feature at all. I don’t see any advantage. Because of this, I would not buy again, although otherwise the seat is very nice.My preferred seat is #3. Straight-forward, attractive, solid.

Bought on Amazon in late Feb 2023. By today, May 8 2023 the hinge totally busted in two. So I got about two months of use out of this piece of junk.Only one person (me) uses this particular bathroom and toilet in our house and trust me, I'm not that strong that I just bust things haphazardly. This lid and seat are super heavy for a toilet and the hinges (and screws!) only made out of plastic that looking back it was inevitable I suppose.The only good thing is that this toilet seat was SO uncomfortable to sit on (the inner edges cut a bit for me, but maybe if you're daintier than I am it works for you) and loud even with the easy close that when it busted today, I was happy because now I will buy a new one with no guilt.I learned I am not a fan of the wooden/pressed wood toilet seats. Fiberglass/plastic only for me from now on. My advice is to somehow make sure you are a fan of the wooden seat before you purchase this, and maybe get one with stronger hinges that can bear the weight of the wooden lid better.

This is well made and functions as advertised. If you want a seat that might be exposed to heavy loads, then this would work well for you. However, it is cold to sit on. We also bought the Cachet model and it is more comfortable.

I didn't want a plastic seat. This was perfect. And the lid, as well as the bottom close slowly. Love that. It does slide so I had to buy non-slip straps to stick on the knobs. Would buy again.

Easy to install, good quality.

I can't say enough about these fabulous seats. The soft close works perfectly and the weight of them is like you used to have years ago.We saw these at our local big box store and my husband was smart enough to open the box to check the condition. they only had 2 in stock and both had large cracks in the cover lid.I ordered 3 to replace our 20 year old seats and they arrived from Amazon without any damage at all.

I ordered 2 slow closing toilet seats at the same time. This one worked right out of the box, the other one was a slam, before it was even installed, so we had to return it. Kholer is a good name and sometimes you just get what you pay for:)
