Enjoyable
My grandson loves musicals and we missed a local stage presentation of Grease. So I rented this to share with my grandson. We both enjoyed seeing it, though I've seen it many times.

WATCH THIS FOR OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN; OTHERWISE DON’T BOTHER.
This is a review of the 2018 Region Free Blu-ray from Paramount Home Entertainment. It is the 40th Anniversary edition, and comes with plenty of extras, including a commentary by the director, Randal Kleiser. The remastered film both looks and sounds immaculate.I had not seen this film for 35 years. I could remember little beyond the snippets always shown when the film is discussed, usually a few seconds of ‘Summer Nights’, ‘You’re the One That I Want’, and possibly ‘Greased Lightin’’ and ‘Hopelessly Devoted’. My husband had never seen it: I promised him a treat. Well, it is always sad when one’s memories don’t stand up to scrutiny, especially when dealing with icons like stars John Travolta, and the late, much-lamented, Olivia Newton-John. But here, they really did fall short of reality. Nor is it an issue with late 20th Century romantic musicals: I adore, and my husband enjoys ‘Dirty Dancing’(1987) for example, and we both love ‘Saturday Night Fever’(1977). But this film is just a million miles from the quality of either of those. The sad fact is that there is little to the film of any merit OTHER than those 4 songs mentioned above ~ which are excellent ~ plus a couple of others which are OK. The single best moments involve ‘guest star’ Frankie Avalon, as the ‘Teen Angel’, in a sort of 70s Busby Berkley-lite! There are a few amusing moments, and the 1950s costumes are seriously gorgeous, but overall, this is a huge disappointment.Although the setting, costumes and cars paint the scenery persuasively, the story is commonplace, and has been done better many times. Between the song and dance numbers, there is a huge amount of rather empty, poorly scripted, filler. The directing is lax, much of the activity seems rudderless and inconsequential. Even the dance numbers vary considerably in quality. The finale, based round the song “We Go Together’, is dire, like a poorly adapted stage number. The acting is variable, possibly because the script totally lacks substance. The involvement of the ‘adults’, in particular the school staff, roles taken by well-known actors such as Eve Arden (Principal McGee) and Sid Caesar (Coach Calhoun), verge on the cringe-worthy. Newton-John is lovely, and she is certainly the best, by a considerable distance. Travolta’s Danny is singularly unappealing; an unambitious and rather feckless waster, without the undoubted depth and charisma of Patrick Swayze in ‘Dirty Dancing’, or of Travolta’s own performance as Tony in ‘Saturday Night Fever’. His friends are even more unimpressive, without even his charm and bright smile to fall back on. And several are SERIOUSLY too old. At 24, Travolta was acceptable (just), but Jeff Conaway as his friend Kenickie was 28, Michael Tucci as Sonny was 32, and Stockard Channing as the tough-minded Rizzo was 34. And they look it!As a historical document, and as a celebration of the undoubted talents of the lovely Olivia Newton-John, we agreed this was well worth a watch. But in all other respects, this is an ‘also ran’. 3 very under-achieving Stars.

Review on the UHD Blu ray of Grease
I wasn’t too sure if it would be really worth the upgrade of this movie to Ultra High Definition , But my am I glad I did as for a movie that 40 years old the UHD transfer is just amazing bringing the movie right up to date and still as good now as the first time I saw it on its official release. If your wondering is it worth purchasing this on the UJD format I would highly recommend it A+++++

Classic Movie
Bad boy Danny Zuko (John Travolta) meets good girl Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton-John) on vacation from Australia and both enjoy a teenage romantic summer-holiday together.Danny returns to Rydell High and shares over-exaggerated details of the romance with his gang, the T-Bird, thinking Sandy has returned to Australia.Much to Danny's surprise (and embarrassment), Sandy transferred to Rydell High…

'Rockin Edition' has a different version of the movie soundtrack - avoid!
The 'Rockin Edition' has a 'doctored' soundtrack and many of the songs sound very different - and not in a good way - the vocal is very loud, less tuneful, and the music is less harmonious and much more in the background.I bought this Blu-ray version believing that it was the original soundtrack but only with instant access to musical numbers as a special feature - not a different version of the songs (the different version is also in this version of the movie soundtrack). I should have read the relevant reviews first!Big disappointment!
