Very thorough, excellent reference
I used this text when I studied Roman Architecture and when I went to Rome. It is an excellent text and has good illustrations, although the pictures are occasionally blurry. I would recommend taking this with you if you would like to know just a little bit more about the ancient ruins you are looking at in Rome, even if it is heavy.

art study
quality is really good, but I thik that for art studying the book should obtain pictures or at least html link for online pictures since it is e-book. There are some pcts in this e-book, but extremely small. This is the only disadvantage I discerned.

A dry read but informative
If roman architecture is your 'thing' then this is an ok book. I found it choppy in places and a very dry read. I only bought the book as a required textbook for class.

A very complete survey of Rome
Frank Sear gives us a complete resume of Roman architecture. Concise paragraphsdescribe the development of an architectural canon designed to enhance the identityof the Republic firts, of the Empire later.Really it is really a "comprhensive and accessible book".A reccomended one.
