Great investment
We had some really weird issues with getting our package. I dont think it was the actual seller, but Amazon customer support was a headache just to find out where it was and even worse at understanding. They immediately wanted to cancel our order instead of figuring out what went wrong.Eventually, weeks late (I think the seller had to ship it again honestly, but again I think something happened at the Amazon facility or with the actual post) the air conditioner arrived. We chose the payment plan option and now that it's here we have no regrets. This works much better then we anticipated, we were trying to cool a small living room and this bad boy changes the temptress throughout the house. Its not significant upstairs where it feels like an ice box but versus how it's felt like a sauna and now just feels warm it's pretty amazing. We love our AC. The payment plan is automatic or you can pay it early when pay hits, it's super easy and convenient. Forget about it or don't, they take care of it.It was easy to set up, including connecting it to our phones and its just as easy to move. We switched windows. You can hear it, and it's a bit loud but not really in an annoying way. It's just the normal easy to forget noise similar to a fan.If you are hot and looking at this, buy it. It's made this month bearable (I'm 9 months pregnant if another uncomfortable Mama is wondering about some relief, this will do it)

Excellent for a floor mount portable
Midea makes great products. I've had one of their dehumidifiers for years and its great. I originally bought one of their new "U Shaped" window mount ACs but it unfortunately didn't work with my vinyl casement windows.I exchanged it for this portable floor unit. Its less efficient and louder than the U mount or a mini split would be, but its still WAY better than my 20 year old 10k BTU Kenmore in-wall was on all fronts (cooling power, energy efficiency, noise and features). On conference calls people say they can't hear it. To compare, I had to turn off my old AC for meetings which was not fun in the summer. Now I can crank it and no one knows!Overall, I'd recommend this highly for renters, or for homeowners like me that can't leverage other options due to window design or mini split installation costs. I'm using this in an above garage room that's less insulated than the rest of the house and gets beating sun all day in the summer. I just keep it at 72F/23C to save on electricity a bit. Room is about 400 ft2 and 12k btu was recommended by an AC professional. I never get below 77F and 50% RH or so according to 2 thermometers in that room but it feels dryer and cooler quickly. The unit only occasionally cools down enough to shut off (per its internal and likely more accurate thermometer), but again I'm using "warmer" settings and just leave fan speed and ac mode on "auto" with a room temp setpoint.I haven't tested "hard-core " settings and a 67F setpoint but I'm pretty confident it would do just fine if I cared enough to spend that much on electricity and environment killing :).

I LIKE IT!
DELIVERY: There was no bottom to the cardboard box for this unit. There was only the styrofoam packing layer and some clear tape, all of which was severely damaged and barely holding together. I’m concerned that the unit I received is possibly used and simply repackaged, but who knows. The bottom drain opening was missing the drain-plug and the drain opening itself appears to be damaged. This is a problem since it will leak water so I guess I have to improvise a makeshift drain plug.Other than that, I LIKE IT! It actually cools pretty well. It won’t turn your room into a winter wonderland, but on a hot day... you will be very comfortable.MAINTENANCE: The unit has a small tank inside that collects the water that condenses in the cooling element. Once the tank is full the unit will beep 8 times, the display will read “P1”, and then the unit will automatically switch from the “Cool” setting to the “Fan” setting. The tank (or “bottom tray”) must be drained in order for the unit to begin cooling again. The frequency at which the water in the bottom tray will need to be drained depends on the relative humidity. Make sure to close all windows, doors, and vents when running this unit to help minimize the amount of condensation that occurs in the unit’s cooling system due to the moisture in the air. If you live in an area where the relative humidity is high, you’re going to be draining the bottom tray very often. So, you might want to either consider a window unit or installing this unit where draining is convenient. There is no air filter in the upper air intake. Instead, the panel has a screen attached which acts as a filter for dust, kind of like the lint trap in a laundry dryer. Check all filters periodically to make sure the unit can run efficiently.NOISE: It is about as loud as any A/C unit or large fan. I’m a very light sleeper, but the sound this unit makes isn’t loud enough to really bother me. In fact, the constant hum is kind of soothing. Just my opinion.USE: The instructions are clear, but at times do not fully explain exactly what certain features/functions are. I played around with the controls and figured it out. The remote also acts as a thermostat so you can set the unit to turn on automatically at a set temperature which I think is pretty convenient.Overall, I would recommend this unit. Just know that this is NOT a “Set it and forget it” kind of machine.

Excellent air conditioner
I now have two of the units. I bought the first one several years ago, and it has got me through a few summers. Now I am using two of them to cool a two bedroom house and it works pretty well. There have been temperatures of over 90 degrees. While these units will not make the house icy cold in these conditions, they certainly make it much more livable. The filters must be cleaned regularly to keep them operating well. The app is a nice feature, and I love the functionality of the wifi version.
