(Drooling like Homer Simpson)
Death metal is a staff of life, and one of the only things that could possibly be more heavenly than brutal metal is brutal metal which is equally as technical. And if that's what you look for in great metal, Behemoth are a godsend. The members of this band are clearly much more mature and better musicians on this, their sixth full length album, than they were five or ten years ago. In fact, the guitarists (Nergal & Frost) and drummer (Ravenlock) almost deserve their own, separate review. The riffs are ultra precise and heavy, and the drum work is head spinning, mind jumbling and complex. To top it all off, Nergal's vocals fluctuate. But whether sounding somewhat high pitched (as in the first track), or low, and unintelligible, his barking is always very violent and mean. Songs like "Blackest Ov The Black," "Harlot Ov The Saints," and "Typhonian Soul Zodiack" are driven by absolutely ridiculous drumming, and "Here and Beyond" is backed by an insanely fast and skilled blast beat. Other highlights are the jackhammer guitars and machine gun drumming on "As Above So Below," the punching, almost thunderous riffs on "Hekau 718," the title track, which has catchy, pounding riffs and more great drumming, and (my personal favorite) the album opener, "Horns Ov Baphomet." Here, the guitarists play rhythmic, heavy chugging, cascading riffs over a blast beat and Nergal's shrieking vocals, and the song ends with a brief acoustic breakdown. All things considered, this is a great album. If you like death metal (even a little bit), make sure you pick this up and enjoy one of the finer things in life. Cryptopsy, Nile, Necrophagist, and Behemoth's 2005 album, "Demigod," are also highly recommended.

Where my Booklet at?
Amazing album. The song that really made me wanna get this album was "As Above So Below", but this was suppose to be the version that comes with a Booklet, but my copy never came with one.

2007/2017 Peaceville Reissue CD is Defective By Design
Unlike Behemoth's more recent albums, which are often sold in deluxe CD/DVD sets, the most recent reissue of this one is a single CD with an included CD-Rom video. Now, I have thousands of CDs and these types of "Enhanced CDs" (some which go all the way back to the 90s) usually don't give me a problem but this one does. I like to back up all my new purchases to FLAC but I can't do this with this one after trying a few different highly regarded ripping programs (EAC, Cue Ripper, and dbPoweramp). It comes down to poor, defective by design manufacturing of the disc itself. Frankly I think this type of thing is a ripoff, especially today when so many people are hooked on streaming (which pays artists fractions of a penny at a time) and some of us still choose to buy our music. I have a couple of other things to try with this disc but I'm probably going to have to seek out one of the earlier CD pressings that does not contain the video. Shame on Peaceville Records for this hassle.

Wholly Great
Though my favorite songs by Behemoth come from other albums (Lucifer w/ Evangelion, Conquer All w/ Demigod, Christians to the Lions w/ Thelema 6, & Ben Sahar w/ The Satanist), this is my favorite album as a whole.

New album, as expected
came new, as expected. This album was more a good fusion of both black and death metal. However I wouldn't really expect anything bad from behemoth, they are always putting out quality music

Constantly playing CD
Overplaying the CD so I hope I don't need to replace soon. I would buy more albums from this band.

Disappointing
2 stars isn't based on the album, that's amazing. But when I saw 'coloured vinyl' and 'numbered' for only £14.99 I bought the album again (music nerd, love the collectible stuff). Received it and it is normal black vinyl and not numbered. Amazon apologised instantly but because its a 3rd party seller they could only offer a refund. Very disappointed.

Solides Album
Solides Album, eben typisch Behemoth, allerdings langt es nicht an die beiden letzten Alben heran, die wirklich herausragend sind. Man bekommt, was man erwartet, aber nichts herausragendes

Gutes Album
Musik ist geschmacksache und deswegen bringt es nicht viel von dem Album zu schwärmen.Das Album geht eher in Richtung Death-Metal, deswegen gefälllt es mir besser als andere Behemoth Alben
